How many layers in the document? Is there a layer above the one you're working on that is blocking view of the changes?

If you try on a flat document with only a background layer does it work?

I have the same issue today, I am using photoshop cc 2018, with the latest update. Content aware simply does not work. I only have one layer, and it is rasterized. Any suggestions?

Update: Just realized that content aware does NOT work with a PNG file, it must be a JPG file. Hope this helps others.

I think RGB png files are supported. I suspect you had an Indexed Color PNG, which would not be supported

This is true.  And no it doesn't need to just be JPG - it definitely works on PSD, TIFF, etc.

Can you take a screenshot of your entire screen so we can see the layers and the document tabs?

I've tried this a bunch of times. I check content aware and hit enter and nothing happens.

It looks like you do not have anything selected.

after 3 hours of searching for the same issue, i finally found it. for those who are using Ps 2018

go to EDIT.
Then, select Fill.

there you go.

the  content aware was hiding there for the whole time the new version was launched
