Photoshop CC: Clone Stamp Tool (alt + click) not working properly.

I recenty purchased Photoshop CC.
The stamp tool does not find Alt+click fast.
If I alt+click and move the cursor to stamp it, if I does it fast, it stamp some thing at the source point itself. + sign also doesnot move along with the mouse pointer.

I am bound to alt+click... wait for a sec... and then slowly move the tool..

This is so frustrating, I have to use it and it takes so much of time or else I will ruin my photographs and then ctrl+Z and then work slowly.... zzzzzz

I tried resetting my preferences, Updated my ATI/AMD graphics card drivers, No streaming in my browser in background. (These suggestions I got from adobe forum)

I dont understand how to work without stamp tool.

Please get this rectified... Please...

You can also try installing the white window work around plugin https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-menus-turn-white-mac.html maybe this will help....

Having this problem today. Work laptop, Photoshop CC. alt-click shows what I've sampled and I'm able to put the sample where I want it, but when I click to brush, nothing happens.

I've isolated the image to its own file so there are no layer difficulties. After I sample, before I brush, I use keyboard shortcut ctrl-d to ensure there are no active selections.

I've used this tool successfully in the past (so I know basically how it is supposed to function), but for some reason today it has decided to sh*t the bed. This is very frustrating and it's eating into my deadline.

I'm on a Mac and don't have a problem with the Clone Stamp tool and a Wacom Intuos 4, but just to bring up the obvious—your drivers are up to date and you've checked all the options in the Options bar to make sure nothing is preventing the Clone Stamp tool from performing as expected? You might also open your Clone Source panel just to be sure that's all set properly. Brushes often throw people because they've forgotten they have a blend mode  selected that won't give the desired results (if someone paid me for every time I missed that one. . . ), or they've not checked some feature in the brush they have selected that might be preventing it from working as expected.

If you're positive all your settings are correct, have you tried deleting preferences in case something has become corrupted? Your modifier key appears to be working since you can see what you've sampled, so it seems more likely that it's not an alt-key issue so much as a Clone Stamp tool issue. If everything is as it should be, apart from not cloning, if you tell us what versions of the OS and PS your using, maybe someone will come up with good troubleshooting steps for you, or join in with their own similar issue to help Adobe solve the problem.

You have a couple ways to delete preferences. One is to quit PS, then hold down Cmd-Opt-Shift and click on the icon to launch it again. A dialog pops up asking if you want to delete your settings. You do.

The other way is to be more hands-on. Again, quit PS. Go to the User Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 Settings and rename the Settings folder to something like ~Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 Settings. That way you're sure to have a backup (possibly corrupt) copy when you then relaunch PS and it recreates a default Settings folder. Try out the Clone Stamp again and if you're encountering the same issue, you can bypass reconstructing all your settings by deleting the new settings file and removing the ~ on the old file, making it the now current Settings file again.  If not, you'll need to reset your preferences manually, and if you're better than I am, this is when you'll make a fresh backup copy so you never have to do that again for this version of PS.<G>

Be sure to back up any presets you've created and not already saved, as wiping out Preferences will remove those unsaved presets. They're currently only being stored temporarily in Preferences.

BTW, why are you not updating your version to 2017 or 2018? Is there something about either of them you don't like? Or is it hardware and system related—as in you don't meet the current specs for them?

OMG... didn't even realize that my Adobe Creative Cloud wasn't updating since my last OS update. Thanks so much, I'm doing it right now :-)

There's a preference in the Creative Cloud app for getting notified about updates. Under Preferences (the three dots at the far right of the CC app panel), choose Show Notifications. A red badge will show up on the CC icon (you do keep it pinned, another preference?) when you have updates available. It's either that or you have to remember to launch the app and check manually, and I know I never would<G>

I just updated to latest version of Photoshop CC, I'm on a Mac OS 10.13.3.   The clone tool is acting like a Move tool.  What is going on?    It's never done this before, I don't have any special settings.

I go to ^ inverted......next to magnifying glass/'Search", on top line far left hand)
Click to open the Tool Preset clicker. Drag cursor to "Cog symbol" top right corner of box, click to open, then scroll down to "Reset all Tools". Works for me

I'm also now having this problem... PLUS when I try to click a clone a single spot and then move my mouse to the next spot and click, it clones an entire line between the first and second. I'm not holding the shift key down which does that as expected. It's as if Photoslop isn't recognizing that there's no keys pressed. HELP!

I'm hiding rulers, disabled technology previews, touchbar, normal drawing mode, enabled legacy compositing...even ran this terminal

defaults write -g PhotoshopForceLegacyPaintMode -bool Yes

Running:
MacOS 10.14.3
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Photoshop 20.0.3

I was extremely frustrated by this too but found a solution. With Clone stamp selected and not working right click on tool presets top left corner and left click "Reset Tool" voila worked for me!

For me the problem disappears when i turn off the ruler. And other brush problems are gone when the ruler is not visible. Adobe please, what is wrong with the ruler? it was damaged in the previous version too?

I'm on a Mac running Mojave and cloning from one image to another just worked—one time. I cleared the document I'd been cloning to, turned the app frame off, it stopped working properly. It was cloning a bit of the image, even though I could see in the brush the whole overlay.

I turned the App frame back on and it still didn't work. I realized I had a Smart Object source layer and rasterized it, and it started working again.

So I turned the source layer back into a Smart Object, and it's still working. I also closed and created new documents of different sizes, and it's still working. Turned the app frame off, made a new destination document—it's still working again.

Color me puzzled.  I don't know why it broke in the first place, only that it broke when I turned off the App frame and stayed broken with it back on.  Rasterizing the Smart Object brought it back, but converting it to an SO again didn't break it again. I'll leave this one to the engineers to sort out. It's beyond me to even know what to test since I can't repeat breaking it.
