Photoshop CC: Brush Lag with smoothing enabled

I have brush lag that others are suffering from.

My brush drags behind my brush and never catches up, regardless how slow I go. It actually only catches up when I select 'Catch-up on stroke end' within 'smoothing'.
However, I don't want it to drag in the 1st place.
I've checked for solutions on other post, but none work for me.
It's not my PC as I have a high end PC that is extremely fast.

Hi Jon,

What version of Photoshop are you running and on what OS? For the Photoshop version go to Help > System Info. It would be good to know because this issue should have been resolved in 19.0.1.

Thank you,
Hannah

Hi Hannah.
Eartho’s hint worked well.
There is a problem with smoothing. Even when ‘catch-up’ is enabled, it doesn’t fully catch up.
Disabling smothing gets rid of the lag.

it catches up if you don't release the mouse.

Thanks Jon. I understand. The brush lag was a known issue from 19.0 and there was a workaround to disable smoothing (which is what eartho gave you - thanks eartho).

However the fix for that brush lag is in the 19.0.1 release, so I asked what version you're running to determine if this is happening for you in 19.0 or 19.0.1. If you are running 19.0.1 and still having this problem, that would be something we would really like to know.

Regards,
Hannah

Hi Hannah.
I’ve checked my version and it’s 19.0
I don’t know why I don’t have the latest as I subscribe to PS using online.
I’ve also checked the available version. There is no 19.0.1 available to download.

Did you check in Photoshop Help > System Info? That's the only reliable place the version. If there is no update you probably are running 19.0.1, but would you mind looking there and pasting the contents of that window here?

Hi Hannah.

Sorry this took a while, but I work away often.

This is the info as you directed me.
Adobe Photoshop Version: 19.0 20171103.r.190 2017/11/03: 1143799  x64
You will see it is 19.0, which leads me to ask.
Why is the updater not getting me the latest version of 19.0.1. If it was getting the latest version for me, I wouldn't have had this hassle.

My Creative Cloud is online and working fine.

Hi Jon, I don't have a smoothing option at the top. I just have opacity and flow. I'm on the photography Photoshop setting. If I click on brush options, all I can do is deselect smoothing but that doesn't do anything.

I discovered that also. Deselecting does nothing.

I'm no expert, but try selecting it to on and then 0% if it's possible.

This is what I did.

How do you get smoothing as an option, mine doesn't have it.
I selected it and still no option for percentage of use
