Photoshop CC 2019: Preferences Issue

I can reproduce this. On my machine it resets to the Color Preferences I have set in Bridge. Do you use Bridge, if so, could you try it and see if it happens on your machine as well. If it does, you can set your Bridge preferences to to your desired Photoshop settings as a work around while we fix this.

Sorry, I should have replied to this sooner. I have found that if you adjust your preferences in Photoshop, then give the new preference setup an actual name (rather than leaving it at Custom), it works fine. I heard that suggestion from somewhere and unfortunately I've forgotten where now, but I did that several weeks ago and it's been fine since. It seems if you change preferences and don't save those with a new name, the process seems to act like a file that's not been saved and so it dumps the changes next time you boot up. This does seem to be a change in behaviour from past issues of PS, but I'm not sure if I just got lucky before or if something else has changed. It may, in fact, not really be a bug at all, but it might be helpful if a note was put on that panel to make sure to save changes by assigning a new file name to it. I hope that helps.

I'm glad it helps. Do you think it's an actual bug, or just something that should have been done all along but never showed itself if you didn't save the settings until now?

It's definitely a bug, your settings shouldn't change unless you change them.

I know it's been a little while, but I'm curious about something. The problem you describe here has some similarities to another issue that was fixed with the last Photoshop CC 2019 update (version 20.0.1 specifically). You might want to see if this is still a problem for you after updating to the latest (if you haven't already). I'd be interested to know if the 20.0.1 update fixed this problem.

Ahh, sorry about that. I've been pounding away in the program so hard lately I forgot to check. YES, it is fixed. I just tried adjusting some settings now without saving them, and sure enough, when I rebooted, everything was as I left it the previous time. So I can now adjust the colour settings (for example) and even if I don't save the profile, the new values are still there when I reopen the program. 

To be honest, I was much more concerned with the lasso tool outline not appearing (which also got fixed in the last update) that I kind of forgot about this issue. So my apologies for not testing this and getting back to you. Thanks for asking.

PS - I have found another issue unrelated (I think) to this, when using the Vanishing Point Filter. When you resize an image you want to paste into the mesh to a smaller size, then drag into the filter, it's as though the image only is resized but the canvas size remains at full size. You have to move the image around within the mesh to find a corner grab handle in order to readjust the sizing of the pasted image again. Should I start another thread on this or have you got enough to work with here? Thanks again.

Thanks Tom, will do on the new topic. I only just found out about this so I'm trying to make sure it's not just "finger trouble in the cockpit" rather than an actual bug.
