Photoshop CC 2018: Why is my histogram showing spaces and jagged lines?

I recently upgraded to Photoshop CC 2018 and ever since the upgrade when I do any adjustment layers to a raw file, the histogram is showing spaces and jagged lines. Is anyone else having this same issue and how can it be fixed?

When you open a raw file from Camera Raw in Photoshop, it is no longer a raw file. You have to decide, and set in the Camera Raw preferences, how you want to open it: the color space and the bit depth (8 bits/color or 16 bits/color). Choose a large color space (ideally ProPhotoRGB) and 16 bits/color.
