Photoshop CC 2018: Cannot drag and drop images from downloads on Mac

When I try to drag and drop files from the downloads folder directly onto my workspace, I get the error message "Could not place the document because the disk is not available."

I have tried deleting the preference folders and everything else, but nothing is working.  Also, when I close down PS and re-load, I get this message
Could not synchronise the colour settings because the colour settings file could not be found.

This has happened in the past week, I assume since the 2018 update.

Regards

Graham

It sounds as if you either have corrupt preferences or a bad install. Probably the easiest thing to try would be uninstalling the update, the reinstalling it. If you don't want to delete prefs and start over with those, and uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't bring back your color settings file, then I suggest you post your OS information and an Adobe person here might be able to help.

I'm on a Mac running El Cap, and I have neither of these issues, but I did create fresh preferences on the 2018 upgrade.

Thanks for your reply.
I have decided to uninstall and start a fresh install, but unbelievably the same problem exists.
I cant quite figure it out.

I'm sorry to hear that. We can try to keep this thread fresh long enough for someone at Adobe to see it, or another user who may have had experience with this. Being it's smack in the middle of the holiday season, Adobe may well be working with a greatly reduced staff, so I hope you can workaround this for now. Just set your Color Settings manually in PS, not synced, but at least it will be the same, and drag and drop from Bridge?

> I have uninstalled and fresh install again, and the same issue keeps happening>

I just tried again using the Downloads folder on my Mac, and it not only was easy to drag and drop, I could drag the file onto the icon in the dock and launch PS that way.

So a few questions: What version of the Mac OS are you using? When you uninstalled, did you delete your preferences at the same time and start fresh with them? Are you able to drag and drop from the desktop, from a folder in a Finder window, from Bridge, anywhere else?

Hey, so I'm also having this problem, so I uninstalled it and it would not let me download any apps... it would try but fail and show the install button again with no error code. So I dug around and found some direct installs and I still have the same problem... I can open documents through photoshops File>Open menu, but I can't drag and drop and I cant pull asset from the CC Libraries

Just wanted to share a fix to this:

Go to Preferences > General > Reset Preferences on Quit

Quit Photoshop and RESTART your system.

Solved it for me.
