Photoshop CC 2017.0.0: Issue with exiting (esc) "Text edit" tool
Sometimes when i try to Esc text edit mode (exit and cancel any changes) it somehow freezes text tool and doesn't allow me to exit it completely. None of shortcuts work anymore (Esc; CMD+Enter; Menu panel buttons) so i can't do anything, even save anything, because most of menu items is inactive. Only option is to Force quit PS and start again. Sometimes it happens every 10 edits and i literally need to save my project every time i plan to edit text, because it can freeze anytime.
Problem appears on Photoshop CC 2017.0.0 release Text tool for macOS Sierra 10.12.1.

Sorry for the trouble with exiting text fields. If you're using 2017.0.0, you'll want to update to Photoshop CC 2017.1 which was released earlier this week.

Let us know if that resolves it for you.

Apparently, on this last update of Photoshop 2017 (macOs Sierra), the text area is causing problems while editing it. I'm losing my work on multiple times due to a huge bug.
Essentially, when I click on a box text, the program is stuck on the edit and can't be canceled or confirmed. Everything else go crazy, the menu icons are disappearing when the mouse go over them, the menu is greyed out, and there's nothing else I can do if not force quit and hope the program will recover the file (not always).
Here's a screen of what is happening:

At first I thought it was fonts conflicting from typekit and some old local fonts I have. I threw the old fonts out and restarted and I'm still losing hours of work to this bug.
I'm running Acrobat Pro, DW, Chrome, Spotify, FF, and Word in the background.

So, if you are experiencing this problem, could you please send the file that you were using when the problem appeared as well as your font cache (found at either /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC or \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC, CC 2014, or CC 2015) to me at david <dot> mohr <at> adobe <dot> c o m
Thanks,
David

I am working on multiple monitors (3) and whenever I edit text on one monitor and then (while still editing the text) click with the type tool into document on another screen, the issue appears.
Is it the same in your case?

This issue is ABSOLUTELY THE MOST ANNOYING cos’ I keep loosing my work.
I mentioned that the bug appears while switching among documents on different screens – it’s not right. But I found that the bug is triggered by "ESC" key. Not every time but it’s definitely the trigger.
Can you solve it PLEASE?
Working with Photoshop is real pain in the ass since this bug.

Adobe released a new version of PS and removed Device preview. So basically if you want to use PS to design for anything but monitors you are stuck with this bug forever. Really really bad move Adobe. It's truly a sad day.

What are you seeing in Photoshop 19.0 or 19.0.1 when you click ESC to confirm/quit a text edit? This problem should have been solved for single monitors. (I'll look into the multiple monitor scenario tomorrow).
Thanks,
David

Edit: I was trying to use the Glyphs Panel (the main reason for getting into PS CC). It didn't work, I could not choose alternate characters like in Illustrator, and afterwards I had to kill the PS task. On 2 monitors, Win 8.1.

I took the time to register because I think I've found a way to remedy this for now without force closing Photoshop.
When you can't ESC out of a text box or even use CMD + RETURN, then do the following:
Use your mouse/trackpad and click on the MOVE tool. Then hit CMD + RETURN. It will pop-up as a program error, thus resetting the box and escaping out.
Hope that helps. It's not a solve for the root of the problem, but for now, it has helped me from force quitting. Spread the word and make sure Adobe fixes this!
