Photoshop CC 2015: Unresponsive, laggy, slow, super laggy scrolling via mouse wheel on Windows

Next Problem!

Since our update to Photoshop CC 2015 we are noticing much more problems:

1. Photoshop is really laggy and unresponsive, especially when we are working with bigger files. We are using HP Z820 Workstations with Quaddro 4000, 32GB Ram, Dual Xeon CPU, fast samsung SSD, win 8.1. GFX drivers are up to date and hardware wise there should be no problem.

2. Scrolling via mouse wheel is impossible, because its so laggy that we should have to wait up to 1 minute until Photoshop stops scrolling.

Help would be nice.
Working this way is really frustrating :/

@Cris:
If 2014, or CS6 Works FINE. And CC2015 is unsuable. What changed in your Photoshop? What is different in your photoshop from CS6 or CS2? What is making your Photoshop CC2015 going slower than previous versions? And why is Photoshop CC2015 having problems while thousands with CS5 and CS6 users in the same machine are having no trouble at all?

Nothing is making Photoshop slower for millions of users.
So, the question is: what on your machine is making Photoshop slower?
That could be a driver, a utility program, another application, failing hardware, bad network servers, etc.

CC 2014 works fine. If I knew the answers to your insightful questions I guess I wouldn't have posted here in the first place.

I second this, of course. Cris, you are being extremely overconfident on that Photoshop is not to blame. Please, explain why Other versions work fine, and CC2015 does not. Do you really think the best explanation is to blame the System, rather than the program, when what changes, indeed, is Photoshop, and not the system? Please...

We don't know what is causing the slowdown on your system.
And when you've spent many weeks investigating slowdowns, only to find all of them caused by things other than Photoshop (plugins, utilities, other apps), and know that the vast majority of users are not seeing a slowdown -- yes, you would be relatively confident that the cause of the slowdowns seen by a few users is not in Photoshop itself.

Ok, so, after searching around the internet, I find hints about changing the performance settings ... and what do you know ... seems to work fine now. So it's NOT about my system. It's about how the new performance settings were set. Here's how I have set them up that works for me:

Edit > Preferences > Performance
Graphics Processor Settings
Memory Usage: 100%

Advanced Settings...
Drawing Mode: Advanced
Check Boxes: All Unchecked

History & Cache
Cache Levels: 4
Cache Tile Size: 1028K

Memory usage should be less than 100%, or you'll run short on RAM for your other applications. We usually suggest between 70% and 90%.

Changing the GPU settings could be avoiding (or hitting) a problem with your video card driver.

Rulers seem to work with this trick, Bill. Thanks. Memory usage should not be 100%, because you can run out of it, but the rest seems to make it work better.

Agree with everything, memory, GPU etc... BUT IT WORKS. What that means new setting in PS2015 must be issue. I hope Adobe addresses issue, because we should not have to set new settings this way. Never the less, IT WORKS

What can I do to make it faster?
I wondered if my internet might make it slower?

I experienced the same problem this morning. I just updated my driver and it works perfectly again. Here is a link to the driver I use for my iMac, mid 2009, 21 inch, running El Capitan. Maybe it will work for some of you...

having performance issues here also.
(Windows 10, latest PS update)
really becomes apparent when duplicating channels-- what used to be instantaneous now takes more than 30 seconds.

When I use Perspective Warp on a simple Smart Object that contains a rasterized image... it takes 20 seconds to show the snap points.

This is ridiculous.

I'm finding lag when more than one file is open - example, 2 files (each, 1150 x 700, 350 dpi) - and performing a burn on multiple objects in file. After applying burn, I sit back and watch the 'movie' as photoshop then implements. ??? Did not happen in CC 2014. Using current update to CC 2015.

I got the same issue too. My problmes started a few months ago, but since the latest update it's nearly impossible to work with Photoshop. It's more than laggy. Even if I change the tool oder use the menu at the top. unbelievable. I'm nearly unable to work. Never had these problems before, but for now, my MacBook AND my iMac are absolutely slow. Is there any update coming oder is it just my fault?!

My configuration of my iMac is:
iMac 27, late 2013, intel core i5, 3,2GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB

I bought this computer about 1 1/2 year before

But i got the same issues with my MacBook, and it's not a year old and has stronger processor

Please help me.

I am "glad" someone else experience the same problem ! I thought I was the only left with photoshop nearly un-usable. For example, if I open a new document, panning is SOOOOO slow, it is already impossible to use. (I have a macbook pro from 2012 which is still really fast with everything else and an Intel graphic Card....)

Got the information from support, that my graphic card isn't supported with CC... Interesting, because with the same devices it worked fine until he last few updates.. i'm very upset with this...

Hi,
Possible solution: I just had a problem with CC being HUGELY laggy over the last few weeks. I realised I'd left the ScriptListener plugin turned on. I renamed the "ScriptListener.8li" to "ScriptListener.rename 8li" and CC is quick again! Just saying in case it solves a problem for anyone else.

I'm experiencing the super painful slow down that everyone else is describing. Chris Cox don't you dare respond to this with "Photoshop is golden, it has to be your system."  I've seen him post that comment to posts where the problem is OBVIOUSLY stemming from a change in Photoshop or CC when the users performed updates. It's the exact case for me. Installed the latest update, everything that I've always done is now super slow and laggy. Nothing's changed but the update to Photoshop. My drivers are all up-to-date, I don't have any third party plug-ins. It's Photoshop. There's something that's changed and I hope they get to the bottom of it because it's really f'ing up my work.

I'd been having the same issue as lagging and unresponsiveness when even trying to move mouse, but changing graphic performance Graphics Processor to Advanced which Dariusz Ejkiewicz suggested has worked. No more lagging!

I have been using CC 2015 for about 2 months since I got my new laptop and today it's just decided to to be really slow. Whenever I use the quick selection tool it takes a goof 4 seconds to register what I've done. Then, after taking a lot longer than I would have liked to select an object, feathering has also become really slow. I don't know what I have done or changed but PS being really slow.

Same problem. Latest spec MacBookPro2015 retina with Windows 7 under Parallels. CC2015 impossible to work in. So yes, there are widespread problems. And Adobe people on this thread getting defensive and juvenile about it does not help...

Only a small number of people seem to be having these problems. And when we work with individuals to track down causes, each system has a different problem (bad fonts, bad drivers, bad utility software, bugs in third party plugins, etc.).

Right, so, Chris, post guides as to how to fix each of those things. We might not have the exact system specs, but this is what I mean by "you know things".  I don't what "etc" means in your last response. I also don't know how to check if i have bad utility software or which software might be causing problems (I only know how to check a task manager). If you post how to fix each item, we as users can start going down the line and checking what works. Don't make us sift through the posts.

Running latest version of Photoshop CC as of April 2016.

Had to abandon a project artboard once I got to my 6th artboard, the whole file became so laggy and impossible to work with. I had to export the artboard as separate psd's just so I could continue working on it. Very frustrating to get so far into a project and be faced with this.

Win 10 64 Bit
i7 CPU @ 2.2HGz
