Photoshop CC 2014: Cannot open files or create new due to script error

I cannot open files or create new in Photoshop cc 2014, and Photoshop gives no error message. I am running Windows 7 professional in a corporate environment, and have been having this problem on and off for few months.

Is this system ever connected to a second monitor?

Thank you Jeffrey for your quick reply. Yes, I usually connect my laptop to a docking station and I have a monitor connected to it. I will try to restore my prefs. and check out if that works.

I did remove the prefs (Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Prefs) file, both using the manual approach and also the keyboard shortcuts, but neither method seems to work for me. I still can't open up files or create a new file. I might have a small clue though, after trying to open a file from the "Welcome" pop up menu, recent files. I get the error message: "Error: Cannot open the file because the open options are incorrect:1"

OK, so some script you are running is failing.

Disable the script (which could be part of a plugin, a HTML panel, or a script set in the Script Events Manager dialog to run when documents open).

If you open by doing File>Open... does it work? Or does it only fail when opening from the Welcome Screen?

The file>open has also been failing when I use it from the main menu. But the strange thing is, when I try to open and make new documents today this all seems to be working as it should! Is it possible that the pref. reset only kicks in after a while? For example after a restart of the computer?

Thank you guys for your time and effort. I will keep this clue about the script in mind if this happens again. This has been happening on and off, but hopefully I am in the clear now.

Did you try to restore your prefs? Any 3rd party scripts installed? Script Events Manager enabled?

Hello, I have a problem, I launched photoshop at work just to continue with my project. And i couldn't open a thing, no recent projects and no new files, so how can I fix this? I restarted my computer and that didnt work. I also uninstalled photoshop completely and then installed it again, didn't work either. So I hope u can help me, i'm a bit stuck.

Make sure Photoshop is up-to-date with the 2014.2.2 update: http://adobe.ly/PS-Up-To-Date

Also, determine if the file opens correctly using File>Open... instead of trying to launch it from the Welcome screen. It's possible you have a .psd file with a .jpg or .tif extension instead of the correct .psd extension.

So, I decided to download another version of Photoshop which is Photoshop CC. But, the similar problem keep happening. Can you help me solve the problem?
