Photoshop: Cannot see picture

When I open a picture in PS, the file name stands in the top of the screen, and with Ctrl-Alt-I I see the size, but I cannot see the picture

Could you post a screenshot?
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, ...) visible?

I assumed the »no« was the answer to the second question (regarding GPU usage) as answering multiple questions summarily would not seem to make sense here.
And I stick with the request anyway: Please post a meaningful screenshot.

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Sounds like a bad graphic driver. Update the driver directly from AMD or NVIDIA. If that doesn't work, it may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Sounds like a bad graphic driver.
But shouldn’t turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences have had an effect in that case?

It can affect things at the UI level in some cases, not just canvas drawing.
