Howdy Richard,

What is the extension on the file?  Are you sure it's a PSD?  Which OS are you running?  Have you tried Open As, in case the file type doesn't match the file's file type label?

Thanks,
David

Thank you. The file says it is'Adobe Photoshop image,18(,psd). I'm running Windows 10. I'll try open as shortly when I load everything back up.

Thanks for the advice but 'open as' does not work either. (sorry the commas in the  previous post file name should,of course, be dots)

How big is the file? Could you post it on dropbox and share the link for us to look at?

I think the problem may be the size of the file. It was passed to me on a memory stick as the sender's email could not send it.I have 2 files which are just the two sides of a sheet of A4 with photogrsphs and text. They are 35.7 MB and a massive 81.4MB (but I do not know anything about individual layers.). Why they are this big I don't know. I'll speak to the creator tomorrow (It's 10.35pm here in UK). Thanks for your replies so far!

Have you checked to see if Adobe Brudge can view the file?

No I haven't tried that. I don't have Adobe bridge loaded. I'll do that tomorrow and give it a go. Thanks for your reply.

Couldn't wait 'till tomorrow but file still won't load with bridge. It recognises and lists the files but that;s all. Looks like we'll have to start from scratch. Thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for all your replies. I've managed to finalise the document using some other programmes and finishing up as a .pdf. Had to do that as the document was urgent. Still a puzzle though.

Howdy Richard,

How much free space do you have on your hard drive and how much free RAM do you have?  Do you have any other files open?  What other apps do you have running?  Could you be running out of system resources?

Thanks,
David
