Photoshop: Brush preset is randomly selected

In Photoshop, whenever I try and select a new paintbrush I want to use in the brush presets menu, it selects jumps to a random paintbrush instead, and I have to find the one I want all over again, and it will sometimes work the second time. It's really frustrating and it interrupts my flow. Anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?
