Photoshop: All versions of CC delete files in my network setup

In my company we use a NAS as a image file server, if i happen to edit a file on a shared folder, after saving the file gets immediately deleted, nowhere to be found. It does not matter the version of PS or even the folder, it has been plaguing us for months this problem.  Definitely a problem between Photoshop and shared network folders.

No, it is a normal operation, try with a Word document, and you try with a simple document Text in the same folder of the NAS, you delete it, are they will not be recoverable in the trash .. .. Normal operation, a NAS is not made to work directly but to store files.

Thanks for the answer, maybe i wasn't clear enough though. I know about files in network shared folders being irrecoverable, the problem is they get deleted automatically after i edit, save and close the file in PS. Some times immediately, sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes does not happen. It does not happen with any other kind of files, for example, text file being edited in notepad and then closed.

Have you talked to the NAS vendor about a firmware update? This sounds like it could be more of a filesharing issue than an application.

When you save and open files across a network or from removable media, many variables affect application performance. Therefore, some problems occur more frequently when you work across a network or from removable media than from a local hard disk. (Network-related problems include damaged files, denied access, or slow performance.) In these situations, Photoshop can return one of the following error messages:

  • "Could not complete this operation because this file is in an unknown format."
  • "Could not complete the request because the file is locked."
  • "Could not save because of a disk error."
