Photoshop 21.1 2: Text rotating slow as hell

not during the text creation, but in a CTRL-T (transform) and rotate/resize of a very simple text layer the operation is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. I tried rasterizing that level and it rotates as a breeze and resize instantly. So I used the old workaround of oversizing and reducing to preserve quality.
But this is a bug. And lately everything related to graphic cards seems very very buggy and untested.

maybe mention your canvas size and the point size of the type...

8688x5703, no matter how big or small the point size, but the last used was 41 pt ; font: Calibri

Hmmm. I think i see what you're talking about, but it's always helpful to define what "slow" means when reporting a behavior.
On my end, i'm seeing a frame rate drop. When transforming a text layer, everything happens at ~2fps, but if a raster layer, then ~30fps.
Is that what you're observing?

It's more like 1 frame every 2 seconds. And I made this kind of operations usually in real time, for the same sizes, same operation. I can add this: this happens in every "transformation" mode: also a "move".

Howdy Giulio,

Could you give me some more info?  I am not seeing what you're describing.  Are you on Win or Mac?  Could you take a look at this video and tell me either what steps I'm not doing or how your results are different?:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y-OUpEmysRiquuLSZkzQUumBfp2ONets/view?usp=sharing

Thanks,

I'm on a pretty decent pc, and I can let you see exactly what happens (please notice: my Photoshop and CC is in Italian language). What you see is image-properties, then a "free transform" of a just created text.

Win 10 64, 32GB ram, every update, CC last version, every update, every update on the graphic card (Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti), SSD and everything else works like a breeze.

Sorry for the video quality... I used a mobile cell :-D

Of course I'm aware there is a canvas size of 290MiB but , as I said, everything worked well in the past. I'm here to notice there is something wrong here.

Hey David, on my beefed up win10 system, i see the same issue. Transform on a pixel layer is 30fps, but the same on a text layer is 1 or 2 fps. Looks like Giulio is also in 16bit on a large canvas, so the effect might be even more exaggerated on a slower system.

Does anyone know how to solve the issue? This is ridiculous! Rotating text on 8k document is slow as hell. My PC is 8700 CPU + NVIDIA RTX 2080 GPU. ADOBE, please SOLVE this!

It's slow as hell on 4k document even.

When did this start? What version of Photoshop?

Is Use Graphics Processor enabled under Preferences > Performance?

Is Use Native Operating System GPU acceleration enabled under the Advanced settings?

It's funny how they keep asking these questions like they don't know about the issue.

Maybe go a step further and recommend they "turn it off and on again". After all, you totally have no clue about this issue, right? No way you're aware of such a simple to test issue that one has to wonder how it even got past testing.
