Photoshop 2020: Delete pattern is grayed out

I have installed 64 patterns and cannot remove them.  When I click restore default patterns, it adds the same default patterns.  I now have 64 of my patterns and 4 sets of the default ones.  How can I fix this?

Found a tip from Colin Smith from PhotoshopCafe. Go to the right top corner of the pattern panel en choose Legacy Patterns and More. You get everything back, even the trashcan!!

Horray!  This worked perfect!  Thank you!

I have the same issue.  As you can see from the screenshot below, I have tried to restore default patterns, only to get duplicates.  I also have extra copies of two default patterns.  The "delete" option is greyed out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Selecting them, then clicking on the trashcan at the bottom of the patterns panel doesn't work for you? It works fine for me. I'm on a Mac running Mojave. If that isn't working for you, Adobe will need to know what OS you're running, and I'm assuming it's the latest version of PS?

I should add, it IS possible your preferences are farkled. If deleting isn't working, have you tried deleting your Preferences and starting over? (be sure to save any presets that haven't been saved to disk first)

I have the same problem. I am on Windows 10 and there is no trash icon and the delete option is grayed out.

Use Window>Patterns

This is the trick in Photoshop CC 2020. I had to have this panel open and dragged a group of patterns to the trash can. Done!!

Just a shot in the dark here, but try right clicking on a pattern, and see if delete is available in the context menu. I found delete to be grayed out in the panel menu after I recently trashed the preferences, but after right clicking, it became available again.

Thanks for the tip.  I gave it a try, and I was able to delete any patterns I had added.  Great!

Alas, I was NOT able to delete the duplicate copies of the default patterns that had been created when I tried "restore defaults."  In the contextual menu, Delete Pattern was greyed out for these.
