Photoshop 2020: Change or turn off the channels panel shortcuts

I draw with my right hand, thus the keys on the left side of the keyboard are prime real estate for keyboard shortcuts. I wanted to assign shortcuts to command+2 through command+5 but these are already in use by the application in the "Channels" panel to toggle the visibility of different color panels. Since I don't use this functionality in my workflow this is extremely frustrating to me. I think users should be able to turn off these shortcuts or reassign them like any other shortcuts.

This really annoyed me as well and took me hours to finally figure out. I've attached an image with the solution. You have to uncheck "Use Channels Legacy Shortcuts" in the Keyboard Shortcuts and Menus box , but, in order for it to work, you have to restart Photoshop after and then, after you reopen PS, reassign the keys you want for Cmd/Ctrl+1/2/3/etc.
