Photoshop 2019: Is overall very slow

After update from 2018 to 2019 version EVERYTHING in Photoshop LAGS - cropping, content aware filling, simplest actions, etc etc - EVERYTHING. No improvements in current version 20.0.4. Had to reinstall 2018 version which runs flawless and fast. MacOS Mojave 32Gb RAM IntelCore i7

I'm not one of the experts but they always tell people to uncheck Legacy compositing.

You are not the only one! Just wait, something will go right and then something else will brake. Issues with [copy] [paste] are driving me crazy. Presets NOT working. The slowness is also a problem, especially when loading a file or saving it, from my standalone drive. Now, I did find a workaround, not a fix; place the file on the PC's hard drive and it will load and save fast (for me anyway). I do the files back on the remote hard drive where they belong. I'm going to stick with Adobe for now, but I have put time and money into trying to get PS to work, so I can smile again. Adobe knows and so do we. Good Luck!

Hi Alex,

Can you be a bit more specific about everything being slow? Is the entire application running slow or just certain operations? If the entire application is running slow, can you do me a favor and check Activity Monitor to see what processes (besides Photoshop) are using CPU at the same time Photoshop is running?

Thanks,
Adam

I just found out my post from a year ago in the "FORUMS" was a waste of time since the developers don't look there for issues.  So I am bringing it here!

I posted in: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/incredibly-slow-performance-on-photoshop-new-install-3900x-amp-2080ti/m-p/11475245?page=2

I too have been having problems with SLOW startup of Photoshop.  It just took over 4 1/2 minutes for it to load and allow me to use the text tool.  I HATE the cloud based programs.  I have used Photoshop since version 2.0 back in 1991.  Never had an issue until Adobe forced everyone to go to cloud base programs.  Bought and paid for every upgrade since then and miss the days when the program was up and running within 30 seconds of starting it.  Same issues with Lightroom!

I saw the comments from D_Fosse and don't believe a word of it.  Since the cloud services began it has been a turtle in startup and performance over all.

I have a Ryzen 3900x and a nvidia gtx 1070 card. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are the 2 apps I use, and they are excruciatingly slow to start up, and work in. Opening normal files, loading, working with layers, moving objects around on your canvas... the screen UI gets jittery, and at times UI thread is blocked... it's horrendous! a disaster!
