Photoshop 2019 (20.0.5) begins to report Not Enough RAM - especially if I've switched focus to another window and back.

It freezes momentarily, then continues.  After this, attempting most actions will cause a pop-up message saying "There is not enough RAM to..." and whatever.  Execute fill, use the brush tool, open a new file.  Or when exiting, it'll say not enough RAM to export the clipboard.

Here's my System Info.   NOTE:  After I alt-tabbed to paste this over here and went back to PS, I selected the brush tool and it froze for a moment, then complained that there wasn't enough RAM to use the brush tool, and now it'll just keep complaining about lack of RAM no matter what I try to do.  I really now believe there's some correlation to this behavior and switching focus to other programs and then back to PS.

Thanks.  I did figure if I don't find a solution soon, then the next step may be an OS re-install.  Its' been a while since I had to do that anyway, but obviously it's a pain so I'm hoping to avoid it.  However, I have been contemplating an SSD upgrade anyway so maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and do a fresh install instead of copying the drive when I do.

Yup - it is a right pain. Literally took me a few years to bring myself to do it. It wasn’t even because of PS but it’s a nice side effect, having Photoshop not annoy me with the Not enough Ram message.

That said, it would be great for Adobe to figure out what causes this. It’s been reported too many times in the past

I had a similar problems several months ago.  I kept getting told  I was out of RAM.  I checked with some people who know more than I do.  It appears that the out of RAM message is not exactly correct.  I think it has more to do with paging and virtual memory, but it is related to RAM and RAM that is required for virtual memory usage.  In any case I upgraded RAM from 16 gig to 48 gig on my iMac and the problem went away.  I recommend that.
