Photoshop 2018- Custom Brush folders disappear on re-boot

Running a Mac OS El Capitan- Tried using the new brush organization feature. Imported approx 50 folders of different brushes. Everything worked as it should. When I rebooted the system- all my folders were gone, and back to default brush folders. Uninstalled and re- installed 2018- same issue. Moved only a couple of folders over and it works fine on a re-boot. Any ideas?

I had the same thing happen. After spending hours getting it all organized!
Would love an answer before I repeat the whole process.

Brushes file gets written to disk on quit. If the application is not quit properly (force quit or crash) the file doesn’t get written. After organizing, quit the application to save. It doesn’t hurt to save a copy for safe keeping. ABR files will retain the folder structure. Just select the brushes/folders you want to include and export via the flyout menu

Could you please tell me step by step how to save the brush groups I have created in PS CC 2018. (and then how to restore them) I have lost mine twice after spending many hours organizing them and it will probably happen again.  I'm a little naive when it comes to things like this and I don't want to redo them a third time until I understand how to get them back.  Thanks!
