Photoshop 19.0 incredibly slow rendering text

Question

Using Mac High Sierra 10.13.2 and Photoshop 19.0. I can't enter any text in a text box. It just takes a long time rendering then if it finishes no text is visible. Have restarted Mac and reinstalled Photoshop to no avail.

I use a 2012 iMac and MacBook Pro.  With the same software, I do not have this problem.  It may then be related to your computer's OS or a Creative Cloud cleanup.
