I currently can't highlight text and can't see the bounding box after making a text box

I currently can't highlight text and can't see the bounding box after making a text box. The problem is not because it's point text, and in the previous version that did not happen. Photoshop automatically updates, I was previously using Photoshop 2020, but I am now using photoshop 2021 which is the one I am having problems with.
