font sorting

Photoshop needs font sorting. Most importantly, by language. It may not be an issue for people who are using only one language, English. However, to write anything in other languages, you need to use a different font and you have to click randomly on a list of fonts to fined ones that could be used with my language. Some of these fonts I have already memorized! As of right now, there is no way to sort fonts by language or group them as you like. Handwritten fonts should also be separated from regular ones Fonts with “bold” could be also grouped separately.  and I would spend quite some time to put them in different groups, if you give me that ability. I don’t need those “favorite” fonts. I don’t think in favorites. Currently implemented filters did not help me even once.

Good Morning, Andrey,

Photoshop already does have font sorting, first by writing system, then alphabetically.  Further, you absolutely CAN into categories like Serif, Script, Handwritten, Decorative, and even your own Favorites.  It's all in the Options Bar -- click the font name dropdown and you'll see a single line of controls appear below it (and above the actual fonts) which begins with Filter.  Click that dropdown for the categories.  The other controls allow you to access TypeKit fonts, use your favorites, and find similar ones.

David, Does this answer only applied to the full version of Photoshop? Because, I tried following your instructions in PSE and was totally lost. My issue with fonts is that when you use the type tool in PSE you have to scroll through several dozen fonts on the list to find a favorite to use. These are all the fonts that the computer system uses so you can not delete or disable them and they automatically show up in PSE. I use mostly my own fonts that I have downloaded and wish there was a way to see only the fonts you want to see in the type tool. I have even tried renaming the fonts with a 1 or an A at the beginning so my favorites would be first on the list but when you load them in Font Book (I'm on a Mac) they default to the name the author gave them. Is there a solution to this or has Adobe thought about addressing this in future versions? I would definitely buy it if they did. Thank you, Judy

Howdy Judy,

Sorry, I work on the core Photoshop team.  I'm not sure of how PSE handles fonts, although it wouldn't surprise me if that app had fewer capabilities than its big sister.  Under the hood, however, they should behave similarly.  There are times that fonts do not get correctly alphabetized in Photoshop, but to fix that, close PS and relaunch and everything should be in the correct order then.  PSE should also resort font names on launch too.

I will forward your question to the PSE team; hopefully someone can answer more fully than I.
