Feature request Photoshop: Spot color layers

Currently, working with spot colors when creating a composition is a huge hassle. Spot colors are mainly used in the packaging industry, but creating a Photoshop composition using spot colors is a pain in the  ̶a̶s̶s̶ ̶ foot. It should be possible to use all layer options, layer effects, blende modes, adjustment layers, masks, clipping masks, ...

How would that work? If you apply a blend mode to a spot color, it changes the color. The whole idea of spot color is for separations so you can make a plate or screen. A spot color doesn't change.

Hi David. You are right. There are limitations and Photoshop should always work within the limits of the colors/colorspace. But when creating 2 spot layers and setting the first layer to 50% transparant, that should be possible. Creating a spot layer and adding a drop shadow layer effect using another spot or process color, I something which also can be printed. There will be limitations, but also a whole new range of options which will significantly improve the design process.
