Dragging curved paths glitch in Photoshop CS6

I've found a disturbing behavior in PhotoShop CS6 and the use of the Path/Pen tool. After creating the path, the best way to edit a curved path is to click and drag on the path itself. In former versions when the curved is dragged, the direction lines at either side of the segment remain "locked" in their original angles. This behavior is gone in Photoshop CS6, rendering the ability to edit by dragging the curve segment useless. I was horrified that Adobe might have made the change universally, but thankfully the behavior works properly in Illustrator and InDesign.
Mac OS 10.7.4.

If you enable Constrain Path Dragging on the Option bar for the Path Selection Tools you will have the old style dragging back.

Mike Shaw,

WHERE exactly is this option?
I am drawing with the path/pen tool, and looking up in the Control Bar and do not see the option you referenced. Also checking the fly-out menu of the Path Panel—no luck. I see no other option. No mention in Preferences either, so far as I can tell.

Help.

Wow. The Option only show when actively selecting the Arrow tools, rather than when in the Path tool, or in the Path Toll and accessing the Arrow with the Command-Click shortcut. Could it be more obscure?

Thanks for the help. You got me there. I appreciate it.

Thanks for posting this Rick and thank you for the help on this Mike Shaw! This answers my question about this very topic. I was stressed there for a bit.

Adobe is becoming increasingly unaware of the people that have been using their products for twenty or more years. Some of the changes are nearly nonsensical. Where is constrain path dragging in Photoshop 21.0.3?

Constrain path dragging is available in Photoshop 21.0.3. The direct select tool has to be the active tool. Not by holding command, you have to select the tool by either pressing "A" on your keyboard or selecting it from the tool bar.
