Discontinuing Photoshop 2017 versions

I see that rather than listening to the thousands of people who have a problem with the way brushes and erasers are now supposed to work in the newer versions, that Adobe has decided to cut all of us off by discontinuing the versions we can actually use. This is a disaster for me, the 'workaround' destroys my workflow and I'm going to have to try and fine a completely different program to work in if I can't use 2017. Please reinstate 2017 or fix what wasn't broken in the first place.

Thank you for this information, it sounds like, it feels like PS is broken. I found myself on PS V20.something and it (sorry) is crap. There I said it. I always 'answer' the surveys and I know that they are read, they are and have given the application good marks, NO MORE. For starters [copy] [paste] is broken. Why should I have to clear the clipboard out before I use C&P If I close out the app,  almost every time all the presets go away. That is just for starters. I'm going to keep screaming until they fix what I am paying for. Did I mention I am paying for something that is broken. Come on Adobe, even your technical support people after two tries couldn't fix it. Good Luck!

What did Adobe do? Adobe, you broke something that was working just fine.

It only took me a day to realise that they had destroyed the program I have been using happily for what must be nearly twenty years. Just downloaded a trial of PaintShopPro...we'll see how it goes.

I'd go back to the floppy disks, if the program worked!!! Good Luck!

I am just curious: What is the deal with CC 2017? CC 2018 is working just fine, fast and stable for me. Only CC 2019 sucks in so many ways that it really hurts (free transform is annoying, brush performance is really bad, more freezes and crashes in the last 3 month than I had in the last 20 years with previous versions ...).

It's the way the brush and eraser are no longer instinctive

Ever since I discovered that I could make my own brush (highlight an area, [Edit] [Define Brush Preset], I don't think I have used one of Adobe's except the circle and the square. I have the same thing happening to me that Olaf is dealing with. PS is broken V20.4 anyway.

Now, I do not want to read as being naïve here but I know for sure that someone somewhere reads those little surveys that pop-up, really. Fill them out with a short note that something is wrong. I see it all over the place in this forum and my personal situation. I am NOT happy. Next, when I have used the 'help' pages that Adobe pops up when looking for help, I put my thoughts there too. I think I would like to be the head chief at the SubliMotion, Spain and really stirring the pot.

I've decided not to abandon Adobe, just yet, but PS is [bad word here] broken and I am going to tell anybody that I can.

Good Luck!

No, that is in fact the first version with the new preset behaviour, despite the fact that it says 2017

Adobe says the only thing that was changed in 18.1.7 vs 18.1.6 is the removal of the Dolby stuff.

The Brush settings and all look the same to me between the two versions.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/whats-new.html

At the bottom of the page under What's Changed it says

"(Photoshop version 18.1.7, May 2019 releaseRemoved support for encoding (writing) Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus sound formats."

Thanks, will check it out. Hope you're right! Does make me think it's only a matter of time though...
