Black pixels with liquify tool in photoshop - still an issue

I have been getting black pixels after applying the liquify filter in Photoshop (common problem with mojave update I read). I have updated photoshop to latest version (20.0.4) and updated mojave (10.14.3) and still get the same problem. The suggested workaround of deselecting the use of the Graphics Processor does fix this issue - but I would love to see the problem resolved properly. Thanks!
