Express: Display picture won't show after chosen from camera roll

I Choose to edit a picture from my camera roll. If I'm lucky to get the preview picture to show before I hit the pencil to start editing, which isn't offer, ill hit the pencil, the screen freezes, won't show all the editing tools, then crashes every time. I've done every possible thing to try to fix this and I'm getting upset. I love this app and to suddenly have it not work is beyond frustrating

If you are using Photoshop Express on iOS or Android then a reinstallation of the app could solve the problem. Just delete the app and install it again.

Have re-installed the app. Same issue. Happens on any size image.

I "had" the same issue with my samsung gs3....SOLUTION IS to turn your screen rotation on and flip your phone length wise when app is open....and waaalaaa black screen is NO MORE. This worked for me....hopefully it will work for anyone else having the same issue :)

Thank you, your solution is a partial solution since to see the image I must keep the screen upside down or horizontal, neither is a solution that I think Adobe should expect a paid app to force a user to do.
Amazing that Adobe does not state this on their support site. Or have a fix for the problem. I guess they just want to sell apps and not worry about if the app works, very disappointing to say the least.

Yea I agree...more like a temporary solution. This is the best app that works for me...despite adobes lack of response. I've been watching this post for a while just waiting for a solution. And glad I helped in some way...I know how frustrating this has been. Would be better if I could hold my phone upright with a better view of my pictures :) if you find out more plz let me know....Thanks

Hi Allee,
I am having trouble reproducing the issue that you and others are experiencing. I hope we can get your issue resolved soon, sorry that it has been blocking you from using the app! I am using a Galaxy S3 and have tried opening several images for editing, but all of them have opened successfully.

Are all of the images that you are experiencing this with shot with the phone? Have you experienced this on multiple images, or just one in particular? Thanks for reporting this to us, my apologies for the inconvenience.

Ian, Pictures appear fine until you try to edit them, then the screen goes black. It happens with photos taken on my Galaxy as well as downloaded photos. Vera Nica had a temporary work around by turning the phone upside down. With all the users complaining about the same thing, I am surprised that you have not been able to reproduce the problem.

Thanks for the reply William. I am indeed performing edits on the images. I didn't do a comprehensive pass through, but checked several things such as brightness, applying an effect, and adding a border. What carrier version of the S3 are you using? The one I was using was the AT&T brand. Has this always been a problem since you got your phone, or has it stopped working all of a sudden? If so, was there an OS update that happened?

Hi Ian,
I of course am having the same issues as the rest. My mobile carrier is AT&T as well. I've had my phone for about 3 weeks now and since then Photoshop has not worked either in the upright position. When I received the phone it was operating on ice cream sandwich and I upgraded my software to jelly bean. I had a samsung infusion which was running on gingerbread still and Photoshop worked just fine on that one. Hope this helps in determining what the cause of the problem is.
Thanks

Hi Ian,
To add my situation to the thread, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 on ATT, and similar to Vera, have had it for a little over a month. On recieving the phone I upgraded to Jelly Bean, added all my apps, including PSX (which work fine on my previous Galaxy Captivate). The app does as described by the others, does not show the image in Vertical mode, but does in Horizontal (thank you Vera). It does this with all images types and resolutions, whether from camera, or downloaded. One thing not mentioned by others is I do have the gallery storage on an Ext. 64GB Memory Card. I have deleted and reinstalled the app twice. Hope this in some way helps to define the problem.

Thanks for your help Janet and Vera. Seems to be not connected to where the photos are stored but specifically to Jelly Bean. I updated the test phone manually to jelly bean and am now able to reproduce the problem. We will look into this further.
Best,
Ian

Hi there,
This seems to be an issue with some of the Samsung Galaxy S3 devices with Jelly Bean update (4.1.1).
There is a quick workaround which enables you to see the picture in the portrait mode as well.
Go to settings -> Developer Options -> check “Disable hardware overlays” (this is present under Drawing section).

Hope this helps!
