Photoshop: Paint Bucket tool not filling the entire layer

Hi!! I am having trouble with the paint bucket tool. When I duplicate a layer and then try to fill a certain area using paint bucket it will only fill columns in gradients of the color selected instead of filling in the whole area. I do not have patterns selected in the toolbar and this is not happening to the background layer

Is there a mask on the layer? If you create a new blank layer and fill with he paint bucket, does it fill the entire layer?

I'm not sure I understand the question. If your layer has a gradient, and you try to fill that with the paint bucket tool, then your are supposed to get only a column of new color. The paint bucket tool changes those pixels that are the same as the pixel you click on, so in a gradient that is only a certain column. The width of the column depends on the tolerance setting. If you set the tolerance to 255, it should fill the entire layer.
