Photoshop Elements: PSE 4 crashes on saving a photo

Just since the last Apple software update, a day or so ago, Photoshop Elements 4 crashes every time I try to save a photo. I have tried repairing permissions, reinstalling, restarting.

Looks like Apple may have released a fix for this Rosetta issue. Some of the commenters say that apps running in Rosetta work after the update:

Which version of Mac OS did you update to?

Which Mac model and processor do you have? The reason I ask is Elements 4 is pretty old and was designed for PPC Macs.

The OS is 10.6.8. It was working fine until one of the automatic upgrades came. At the same time, after posting the above, I discovered a similar problem with AppleWorks, which I know is old, but had been working fine. Hoping to rescue hundreds of documents still in use.

Do you have a Mac with an Intel processor or PPC processor (G4, G5)?

OK. Makes sense. We've seen a few other cases where the 10.6.8 OS X update breaks Apple's Rosetta support PPC software. Unfortunately, the options are to wait for a fix from Apple (although Rosetta is no longer supported by Apple, so it's unlikely they will invest in fixes), run Elements 4 on a PPC Mac, or upgrade to a version of Elements that supports Intel processors and the current Mac OS X operating systems.

Thanks, Jeff! The update from Apple fixes the problem! I appreciate your attention on this. I'm going to buy the update to Elements 10 anyway, partly because of your help.
