Photoshop Elements: Photo Downloader dialog won't display Advanced Options in PSE 9 (on smaller screens) as it did in PSE 8

I am using the same notebook computer for PSE V9 as I did when I was running V8. With V8 the photo downloader would open in either 'Standard' or "Advanced Dialogue". IN V9 it will only open in the 'Standard" form! When using the Photo downloader in V8, the screen was a little crowded but I moved the Windows Taskbar to the side of the screen and this gave me more vertical Space. If I connect my notebook to a larger screen then V9 works fine offering both Standard and advanced forms in V9.

My notebook is a Sony S series 2.13 GHZ with 4MB memory, 13in screen with a max resolution of 1366X 768@ 90 ppi. My bigger screen is a 24in Samsung with a resolution of 1920x1080. Is there anything Adobe can do to fix this problem with V9?

Hi David,

It looks like the screen resolution requirements are greater for Elements Organizer 9:

Advanced button missing | Adobe Photo Downloader | Elements Organizer 8, 9 | Windows

Brett may have additional information.

This is true, the resolution requirements are greater in version 9. But we are looking into having that changed.

If the minimum acceptable screen resolution could be increased to 800 in PSE9 it would solve my problem.

The photo downloader should work at the screen resolution listed on the box, 1024 x 576 for Windows 1024 x 768 for mac.

Adobe will give a refund of your purchace price if you bought it from an authorized reseller (like Staples), but they should just fix the defect.

I just installed pse 9. The "advanced diologue" option is missing from Elements Organizer Photo Downloader. Online search shows that many people have the same problem and isolated the issue to screen resolution. 1360x768 is the highest my laptop will do, which is within PSE 9 requirements!

This seem to be a very bad decission by Adode not to full suppoty all option when the vertical display resolution is less than 800. Given the most of the latest release laptops from major vendors now have a 768 resolution can Adobe plase issue a fix for this very poor design desission. Regards Mike Ryves

I can not get the Advanced option in the get photo from Camera or Card Reader pull down menu, I understand from the forum this is by design. Can it be fiexed asap as most new laptop from the major vendors now come the a 768 resolution display. Please fix with a upgrade or must I return my PSE9 and go back to my PSE7 that workd fine with is display resolution. Mike Ryves....not happy with this undocumended change to a great product.

I just bought a new Toshiba L-series laptop with a 15" screen with 1366 X 768 resolution. After doing alot of research to find why the "Advanced Dialog" button is missing, I was directed here. At least I'm not the only one having this problem. The only reason I bought PSE9 was because I was advised that PSE5 (which was on my old laptop) was not compatible with W7. I LOVED PSE5-I'm not too thrilled with PSE9!!! Why would you make such a change? I hope you get enough complaints that something is done about it. I'm ready to send it back and I've only had it installed one day.

I have a Toshiba laptop with 1366X768 resolution. I am having the same issue. As a developer, I cannot believe that this was overlooked! What a shame! I hope that Adobe takes ownership and distributes a fix ASAP.

At the end of my suport call this morning, Adobe offered me a full refund. Anyone effected by this defect should ask for a refund. This is the only way they will be inspired to fix it!!

Come on, call in and insist on a refund. It's easy, they didn't even argue with me.

Steve,
I called and was told I could get a refund, after hassling with the tech and he tried to "troubleshoot the problem". After submitting all the info they requested, I received an email telling me that I need to deactivate the product before they would issue a refund. Is this what you were told?

PSE9 Advanced Dialog Box in Elements Downloader.
Adobe is well aware of this problem, but can find no solution. Adobe specs on the PSE9
box were met, but anyone who has a netbook or laptop etc. with a resolution of 1366x768
@90ppi will not be able to use this feature. This is a bug that renders the photo downloader useless for most customers. Adobe's reputation is taking a big hit.
Already have advised friends not to purchase PSE9. Has anyone found a solution?

I have recently purchased Elements 9. I am able to download photographs into "photo downloader" but the "Advanced Dialog" box does not appear on the bottom left hand side of the downloader box. I know I would find this really useful and wonder if anyone had any suggestions. Thanking you in antcipation. Suzyo

Brett,
Please explain how fixing the problem in PSE 10 is going to help the customers who bought PSE 9? I'm not going to expense of buying PSE 10 when PSE 9 should not have had this problem to begin with. I feel that Adobe should replace PSE 9 with PSE 10 to the customers who have the problem-free of charge.

I can not believe that I will have to purchase Element 10 to fix the issue that is in Element 9. My 16inch laptop with Vista operating system does not support a 800dpi vertical so am I out of luck as far as not being able to download the "Advanced Dialog" box?
