Elements: Where are the Catalog files?

Where can I find the catalog file(s) for Elements 7 running on an XP system?
What is the file .ext I should be looking for?
Can I use these files with my Elements 9 database?

I have a new computer running Windows 7. I have copied all my photos (apt. 3K pics) for a backup of my old dead PC. I would like to re-establish my catalogs so I do not have to start from scratch.

The Photoshop Elements catalogs for Elements 7 on Windows XP are stored, by default, here: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs. There you will find a folder with the same name as your catalog, as seen in Elements Organizer. Bring the entire folder over from your old computer to your new one. Place it here: C:\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs

The file extension for the catalog depends on the version it is from. For Elements 7, that extension is "pse7db".

You cannot use the catalog from Elements 7 in Elements 9 directly (Elements 9 will only open catalogs with the extension "pse9db"). You need to convert the catalog from version 7 to version 9. To do this, open Elements 9 Organizer. Go to File>Catalog. In the Catalog Manager, click Convert. Choose your catalog from the list and click Convert.

Hello there - fast forward 4 years: how do I find the catalog file for PE13? I named the catalog "12Sep2015" and did a Windows search (Win10) but it found nothing by that name...

Also, are Photoshop CS5.1, PE11 & PE13 happy alongside each other on the same PC?

Thanks

Andrew

The catalogs are folders, not single files. By default those folders are hidden. You have to set the options for folders in the explorer to 'show hidden files'.
The database file in the catalog folders is called 'catalog.pse13db', that's what you have to search. The name of your folder is the name you gave to your catalog.

And yes, PSE11, 13 and Photoshop get well together on the same PC.

A somewhat related question - can I move my Photoshop Elements 13 catalog to Onedrive (also keeping a copy on my hard drive) so that I can edit photos on both computers that I have PSE 13 loaded on? Will that work or will it get out of sync trying to use 2 computers?
