Did saving a JPEG ever work on this system? If so, what changed?

I have always been able to save JPEG files from elements. I am able to save the same file in different formats but not a JPEG. I honestly cannot think of anything that has changed in my system. I can copy .jpeg fiiles to my computer and move them around. I can load a .jpeg file into elements and make changes and save them in PSD format, but when I try to save as jpeg I get the error. I just tried and it let me save it as .jpf.

I even unistalled and reinstalled Elements just to make sure the program didn't get corrupt.

I'm checking my computer and I see that it automatically did a WIndows critical update 2 days ago. I'm thinking that something in windows is no longer compatable with Elements.

Hi Colette,

I'm wondering if user permissions are damaged or out of whack.

Try these steps to fix most issues: http://bit.ly/Troubleshoot_PS

The above link is for Photoshop CS but the principles apply to Elements. I'd try running from a new admin account or running in safe mode.

Good news! I noticed there were 3 optional Windows updates that I decided to run and it solved the problem. It seems like this was all caused by the Windows Critical Update and then fixed by them with the optional ones. Thanks for trying to help Jeffrey.
