Elements Organizer (2018) - Provide a (new) Folder Tree Display similar to the current Places Display
The use of the new map/gps based Places view results in hierarchical tagging. That is, when a place is selected, one has and perhaps even .
These tags are displayed in a nested hierarchical structure. If I click in the box in front of a tag to select it for viewing, all the tags in the sub-structure beneath it are also selected. So if I choose California I see all my photos tagged in any CA city or location. If I click on Arizona, I see just those tagged in AZ. If instead I select United States I will see the AZ+CA photos as well as all other states. If I click New Zealand I see both North Island and South Island.
I would like (an option for) the same kind of display when I choose a folder from the Folder Tree View. I would like to see all items in that folder and in all folders in its sub-tree.
Note - I can select multiple place-tags in the "earth-places-tree" (e.g. CA + AZ). I am not asking to be able to select multiple folders in the folder tree.
My understanding is that (in Windows) the path-to-photo is maintained in the database. I would hope it would be straightforward to build an sql query to find all instances in which the path-to-folder begins with the path-string of the folder that the user selected in the folder-tree hierarchy. Those matches would define the set of photos to be displayed.
Note - make no change to the Folder List View. A selection from that view would continue to show only the items in that folder itself.

I think it would be good for users wanting to comment or to vote for your feature request to also read the other discussion.
A few comments of mine...
- Yes, you can check that the full path is stored in the database. Indeed, you could imagine a search query like 'folder path - [contains / begins with / ends with] - text string'. By the way, the advanced text search (magnifying glass top right) is able to find any text string in any caption or tag. I can imagine such an automatic search if the full text path text is indexed.
- The question does not take the drive id into account, it is stored differently, not in the 'folder path' text string.
- There are other discussions stating that combining a folder criteria with any other one in the 'search by detail' does not work. The workaround being to first add a tag to the folder selection before running the search by detail.
- Remember that the organizing philosophy of the organizer is to manage a database, not folders like in browsers. The folders features are generally secondary and only necessary when migrating from a folders organization to a relational database catalog. Once you have created your virtual organization in tags and categories hierarchies you can search by categories/subcategories including lower level subcategories and tags. You can perfectly manage your places categories like this, or your hierarchy for managing birds, minerals, themes...
