Elements: How do get documents from Illustrator to Elements with good fidelity?

Is it possible to save an Illustrator document (.ai, .eps, .pdf) as a .jpg in order to open it in Photoshop Elements?  When I open any of the noted Illustrator docs in PsE, the loss of clarity makes them useless.  Thank you.

You can open .pdf files in Elements.
Since Elements is a pixel editor, not a vector editor, the files will be translated to bitmap (pixels) format according to your choice of resolution. The scaling ability of vector images will be lost, but 'loss of clarity' does not apply there, you have to define the right resolution for your project.
Also beware that to better assess the quality of your image, it's best to set your display to 100% view, or even 50%, 25% or 12.5% factor.

Edit:
While the Elements editor can open pdfs from Illustrator, Elements Organizer is no longer able to manage those pdfs in catalogs.

Thank you for the response and information; changing the % makes, of course, all the difference in the world.  Appreciate your help.
