Elements 14: Strips People Tags from Edited Images
Photoshop Elements 14 strips People tags from images when they are edited. Events and Places tags are left intact.
This bug is not present in Photoshop Elements 13.
How to reproduce:
This bug is not present in Photoshop Elements 13.
How to reproduce:
- Import an image, test.jpg, into the PSE14 Organizer
- Apply a People tag (T1), a Places tag (T2) and an Events tag (T3) to the image
- Edit the image with the PSE14 Editor and save into a Version Set as test_edited-1.jpg
- The edited file is now missing the People tag (T1). The orginal file still has the T1 tag. The Events and and Places tags are still attached to both files in the version set.

When you look at the edited version of the picture, if you try to mark a face for recognition, do you get a message to say the Recognition has not run yet on that picture?
Sometimes Recognition fails to work on edited photos and you cannot manually mark the faces.
This could be why you loose your People tags.

The behavior is consistent for me: every time I edit an image the People tags get stripped. All the non-edited images are fine.

Is there anything in the settings that you have to adjust to also carry over the people tag to the new version?

The problem only arises when doing a "save-as" for me. The "saved-as" photo does not have the people tags anymore. If I just edit a photo and do not use "save as" there is no problem. However, I like to keep my original and have all the edits on a "saved as" copy, so that's why this is such a problem. And FYI, I am using PSE for all my edits, if that matters. This is an extremely frustrating bug! Please fix this asap.

While I do not work on the Element team, I can imaging why Element might have to throw away the face tag info after edits. Because you might have cropped, scaled or rotated the image in the editor which would invalidate the bounds of the input.
