Hi,

Could you please try using a mouse instead of trackpad when using tools in PSE11/12? Do let us know if that works for you.

These issues with MAC 10.10 are fixed in Elements 13- the latest one out in market.

Regards,
vaishali

Hello, Vaishali. I am able to use a mouse in PSE11 (thought not able to use the track pad). I'm not using a wireless mouse, if that makes any difference. Thank you for trying to fix this for us!

Hi,

We sincerely apologize for the problem that you have been facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).

We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).

In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:

1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad

2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem

Plug-in installation instructions:

1. Close Photoshop Elements

2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)

3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:

• For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/

• For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/

You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".

Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.

If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
vaishali

Are you trying to drag and drop within Elements? Or between different applications, and if so which applications?

Within Elements. I need to watermark photos. I usually just open the watermark file and drag it to the photo in the Photo Bin. It won't let me do it since I upgraded yesterday to Yosemite.

Thank you for starting a new thread for me.

I tried using a mouse (the Apple mouse) yesterday after I read another thread and it still would not drag and drop. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it thinking that might help but it still did not let me drag and drop.
I would prefer not to buy the new program but I will if someone can guarantee I won't have this issue. Have you actually tried it so you know this particular issue does not happen in 13?

I broke down and purchased 13 because I really need this for my business. Drag and Drop does work in 13.

I also cannot drag and drop OR move elements with mouse in PSE 11 Mac now that I've upgraded to Yosemite. Will there be a fix for this???

We do not know when or if Apple will be addressing the problems introduced in MacOS 10.10. But also, Elements 11 is 2 major versions behind the current release of Elements (13).

I also cannot drag and drop or move an image with my trackpad in Photoshop Elements 12. I am only trying to open files already on my computer and open and work with them in PHotoshop, but I cannot do anything except view the image, and zoom in and out. I have always worked with my trackpad and do not own a mouse for my laptop. I just bought Photoshop a year ago. Are you saying the only way to use Photoshop with my laptop is to buy Elements 13?

If so, how do I uninstall Yosemite and get Mavericks back? Because at least that worked. I am a "starving artist" and it is financially impossible for me to buy Elements 13.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Adobe Elements 12 problems with MacOS 10.10 Yosemite.

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 on Jan. 13 2014 for Mac. I recently upgraded to Yosemite only to find that several of the essential tools no longer function. If I knew in January that Adobe would not test compatibility for operating systems, I would have purchased a different product. I'm getting less value for purchasing the equivalent of 1 year of your subscription service. Interesting business model. Curious if I could transfer my purchase price for the remaining 2 months of full photoshop if you do not plan on addressing the issue.
