Elements 10: Issue on new Mac, not enough ram

An older program such as Elements 10 won't be receiving updates at this late, unless the updates are about Adobe Reader (most probably).   Since there is no longer support for PSE10, my best suggestion is to upgrade to version 14, 15 or 2018 (16) version.  It has all the same tools (I have PSE10 too) and the only difference is that the back-button is at the bottom instead of the top.  You would get right into the groove again with a newer program, and it won't mess up your Mac OS.

On the Apple boards someone suggested I try Affinity instead. I downloaded their mobile version to try. I’m more than willing to learn a new interface since Adobe doesn’t seem very supportive.

I don't have a Mac, I have Windows.  Like Windows, support is usually discontinued when it gets old.  I'm supportive, but even I can't expect support for an older program like Elements 10, first issued in September, 2011, 7 years ago.   Like our Operating System versions, we keep current and upgrade.   We do that with Adobe too.   This is why I suggested a newer version.   Stay with Adobe.  Why learn something new.  The learning curve will delay your projects.
