@Rick Hi Rick. Thanks for replying. I am getting the two choices after the Long Press. I choose "Open in app". It takes me to Instagram where I get the message "Error. something went wrong, please try again later".
I can do that but it’s tedious compared to going straight from LR mobile. It tends to stop me from posting to Instagram. Is Instagram blocking LR mobile? There seem to have been a few issues this past year. A problem gets fixed and then another problem crops up.
@Rick The above solution *was* working and now it's not anymore (long press, open in app)
- understood that I can export and upload via the instagram app, just adding helpful information as you track this down - thank you! (Lightroom Mobile, iOS 14.4, LR mobile v 6.1.0 C2677A/7
It is working now. You should be able to pick any picture from the LR mobile app and able to "share to", "open in" or "export as" then select IG after. It has been working for at least last 2 weeks. I have iOS 14.4, LR mobile 6.1.0C2677A/7 and IG V175.0.0.23.117. Good luck.
That’s great to hear & thanks for noting the IG version. I was on 175 and it was definitely not working (see above), however IG 176 just installed (“bug fixes”) and now it is working (again) and very smoothly.
Forgot to mention I am on iPhone12pro if that was a difference.
This seems to be a dynamic situation, thanks for all the support.
I have similar issue can't share to Instagram Feed, get the message "picture could not be loaded". Same error on both my Huawei tablet and my Samsung Note 8,
Note that I can share to other platforms such as Facebook and I can share to Instagram feed from the photo gallery on the the device.
The strange thing is also that it is possible to share to Instagram Stories and Direct from Lightroom
Hello, from Sunday I have some problem with exporting photo from Lightroom to instagram ( function share to...instagram feed doesn ́t work ) Could anyone help me, please ? I use Huawei P30 PRO ( android ) Big thanks in advance for your help...
Exporting photos from LR mobile to Instagram worked fine for years till now. The photo I select in LR mobile to share manages to open Instagram for a second or two, then it reverts back to LR mobile with an error message saying 'unable to load image'. I have uninstalled LR mobile and re-installed it but no improvement there. I have uninstalled Instagram and re-installed it as well. No improvement either. I have tried sharing photos that were already shared on Insta before, the problem still persists. I am out of options.
Would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks!
I have same problem!! :-( Last week at Friday I shared my photo with no problem.. From last Saturday exporting to instagram doesn't work for me (unable to load image )
Hello guys, I'm having the same issue, stop working after Instagram last update for Android, and for Android >= 8, older versions is working fine. Also Stories, is only for FEED.
We are currently working with Instagram to get a fix issued for this problem.
We've had unofficial reports that updating your Instagram app to 136.0.0.34.124 has fixed this issue for some users. Has anyone on this thread tried it?
Update 12/04/2020: If you continue to experience this issue you may need to go to iOS Settings>Instagram and make sure Photos is set to All Photos.
Lightroom to Instagranm worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. I try to upload from LR Mobile on iOS and I get the error message "Error. Something went wrong". As I say, this worked well up until two weeks ago. Please can anybody help ? 30.11.20.
Since the most recent update I can no longer export an image from LR Mobile for iPad to Instagram. Instead it opens a dialogue box to "Share To" which does not work even if I select Instagram as the recipient.
The export function is still present in the Creative Cloud App on my iPad which allows a work around but it is not ideal.
One of the main reason why I loved Lightroom Mobile so much was because of its ability to export images to Instagram as a story or post. But then with one of these recent updates, I’ve lost that ability. Please fix this, Adobe. You guys are the best 👍🏾

Export To Instagram
i thought it was just me, reached out to folks over at adobe and logged out, uninstalled and reinstalled lightroom mobile and still i can't upload to instagram. I've tried sending a message to instagram tech support, hopefully they'd catch up on this soon... I'm able to share to other social media platforms, but i'm more active in instagram that's why this got me really annoyed hahah... i hope we get a fix on this soon.
ps. i got this problem when i updated my iOS last night to 14. Wondering if apple had something to do with it as well hahah.
Obviously, everyone is having these issues, so I don't need to report ME TOO! But I do need to state that there used to be two options: 1. Open in Instagram and 1. Copy to Instagram. The open in (when LR is involved in the posting only allows for VERY limited posting capabilities and then you have to go to Instagram to EDIT the post. But the COPY TO INSTAGRAM option was always much better because it sent the image to Instagram's app and opened it in Instagram where you had the ability to do a full post with all the links and tags etc. I would like to see that COPY TO INSTAGRAM come back too. The LR centric option was always problematic because there wasn't enough true integration.
By the way, I will say that LR will export to Facebook and any other app. Just not to Instagram. So that should help you figure out where the issue is. However, I still would prefer that LR give options to simply OPEN or COPY the photo INTO the social media app and let the social media app take over from there... unless of course, LR can fully integrate. If not, just make the connection and let the real app do the posting work (like captioning and sharing and tagging).
It seems as though the option to instruct Instagram's app to just open the photo like asking Google Keep, or Apple Notes or Mail to open it would be the simplest method to circumvent some change to Instagram. The problem is, LR seems to have changed its entire method for connecting to all of the apps on the phone by wanting to do the writing of the post inside the Lightroom app rather than in the app the photo is being sent to. Which again, should only be done is LR can actually fully integrate with the app. Otherwise, LR should just push the image to open up the app and instruct the app to start using that photo. That seems like the simplest path to all integrations with other applications.
Which version are you running into this with and which device? If this error occurred after you selected Instagram, we can't easily tell.
It might help to know which Instagram version you are using, If you share the image to e.g. your Camera Roll, does it work to share the image to Instagram then?
I have the same issue since the latest upgrade of Lightroom on my iPhone 8 Plus. All upgraded to the Lara test versions. In Instagram no issues with other posting photos directly from phone.
Have you managed to share to Instagram from any other application besides the iOS Photos app? Apps like Whatsapp also fail, which makes it hard for me to assume that it's an Lightroom only problem.
Yes I can share direct from photos. IoS 14.1 I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both insta and Lightroom. Now when I try “share to Instagram” (since copy disappeared) I get “Error. Something went wrong” I have to export to photos and post from there.
Exactly how do you share over Creative Cloud as well as over Lightroom? E.g. file type being exported, from which camera - dimensions, watermarks or not etc.
Does it mean that you can share to any other application from Lightroom?
It would help a lot to know the settings you use in Share to... or Export As... Note that the Share to... settings can be found by tapping on the outer right side (settings) icon next at the same level as the Share to...
Import into LR Classic on laptop as a RAW file. Process in LR Classic.
Add files to collections which are synced with Lightroom / Creative Cloud.
All files in collections can be viewed and edited in LR mobile App on iPad. Attempting to send a file to Instagram which used to work but doesn't anymore involves selecting Share To which produces a .jpg copy and then selecting one of a number of options from destination icons. I can still share with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr but not Instagram.
The settings under Share To: .jpg, Small (2048px), 80% image quality, no watermark, include metadata, original filename, no output sharpening. I believe these are default settings as I have not changed them
I also have the Creative Cloud App on my iPad in which I can also see all of my collections synced with Lightroom. I can share images from this application with Instagram or any other application using the Quick Export option after selecting share. If I select Download Original File from the Share menu I can't export to Instagram but can to the other programs. I see the same message: "Error. Something went wrong"
Given how everything worked well for years and has now stopped working on two occasions after upgrades to LR and / or IG I do not believe the issue is anything to do with setting on my device / account which have not been changed by me at any point.
Thanks. Can you please provide me with a timeline? I see that this has been an issue for over a year. I have a project that I’m working on. So I can wait or just move on. Thanks so much.
If you can always run into this, please let us know what image type you are sharing, what kind of dimensions you are using as well as if you have watermark enabled?
It could matter it shouldn't, but since the error message from the Instagram is so general, it makes sense to check for any clues for any user.
I assume you share over Share to... or Export As... Export As.... is a good way of verifying settings in case Share to... goes wrong. This since you will select all the settings up front.
So if you use Export As... does it work to share to Instagram? If so, can you please let us know what settings you used there and compare to the settings that you have for Share as?
I'm on IOS and the option "Copy to Instagram" when I choose Open In is gone. I can no longer post to Instagram directly from Lightroom Mobile. Pretty annoying, since the Open in Instagram option has very limited functions.
I have the same issue. I was able to post last night from my iPhone X and now keep getting error message. I updated both Lightroom mobile and instagram apps but the issue persists. PS: Exporting it gives the same error message.
@rikk Has there been any progress? I have been trying for months to post from my iPhone SE 2020 to my Instagram feed and always get Error Something went wrong! I used to get both the Instagram icon and Copy to Instagram, but the latter has gone. Even if I press and hold the Instagram icon, I get Error Something ent wrong. Please try again later!! I notice that these issues were raised back in March - surely there is a fix now?? Please help!! Thanks Andy
@mark_hunter_965cai1ycl29o Please note that this issue is not a Lightroom issue, from what it looks like this is an Instagram issue.
There seems to be many reason for this error message:
not authenticated accounts
temporarily locked accounts (same as above but on step further)
no access to photos app
In case you do run into this issue there might be two ways of getting around it once not connected to the account:
1. Verify that you are using the latest Instagram version 2. Check Photo access for Instagram app in the iOS settings 3. On newer devices - do a haptic tap on the Instagram icon in the share sheet to see if you can use Open in App. 4. restart device (last sanity check)
In any other case you might need to contact Instagram and their support.
In case you would be able to share images from other apps like e.g. Messages app to Instagram without having problems with Lightroom, then that would be something that could qualify as a Lightroom bug.
If you would have any issue, please specify iOS version, image type and let us know if you can share the same image successfully over the Photos app.
I’ve no idea whether it is an Instagram issue or a Lightroom Mobile issue. It is an issue affecting the interface between the two which for me first happened after updates to one or both Apps several months ago. One of your colleagues said at the time that Adobe were working with IG on the issue and it did get sorted with later updates. A few weeks ago it recurred albeit with a different error message.
I can share images from Photos and even Creative Cloud with IG ( as I stated above). The issue occurs on both my iPad and iPhone running iPad OS 14.2 and iOS 14.2 respectively.
I have been trying to upload photos to Instagram on my IPhone running IOS14.2 but I keep getting an error: “Error - something went wrong”. Obviously this isn’t a helpful message.

This is a known issue but we have found an easy workaround:
At his point you can complete your post to Instagram.
Big thanks to @Ignacio_B for tracking this down!

You've posted this to Lightroom Mobile - Which device are you using - Android or iOS? I am able to post to Instagram right now with no issue.

I might have figured out how to solve it.
Go to the iOS settings/Instagram and enable All Photos access for Photos.
thanks,
