Lightroom: The version might be the biggest mistake ever

I am a professional photographer. I use LR to catalog all of my photos from different shoots. If I wanted my catalog to be essentially useless I would have just used the microsoft/apple software built into my computer. Where did the color flags go? All that time flagging different photos... now completely wasted. where did my details go? Completely change all of the hotkeys so that we have to 100% learn a new software. is this even adobe anymore? This new update has me contemplating switching software to somebody else and taking my money elsewhere

Thanks for your input, Kyle!

Lightroom CC is, of course, a 1.0 release so is still a work in progress. We want your help in creating this new tool and are excited to hear what you think. There are already a bunch of new features in the works so keep your eyes peeled!

That being said, it may be that Lightroom Classic is the better workflow for a lot of folks and that's good too. Classic will continue to evolve and improve as well. Which tool is right for you will depend on the type and quantity of your workflow.

Here's a link to a great blog post by Victoria Bampton, The Lightroom Queen, that may make it easier to decide:

If you want to see new features in Lightroom CC please vote for ones that have already been submitted, or add a separate topic for each feature you'd like to see included in future updates.

Cheers!

The biggest mistake Adobe made was to create this unnecessary confusion by 'stealing' the name of the old product and giving it to the new product. Because the new 'Lightroom CC' took over the name of the existing product, many people get the idea that the new 'Lightroom CC' is an upgrade of the old Lightroom CC2015. It is not. It's an entirely new application, and so Adobe should have given it a new name. Unfortunately however, the marketing department at Adobe wasn't creative enough for that. The real upgrade of Lightroom CC2015 is called 'Lightroom Classic CC'.

That was exactly what it was. Took me about an hour to figure out LR classic was what I was looking for. I thought everything had migrated to the LR CC. And then still was skeptical that the classic was just a legacy software they kept around while they transition to the LR CC. LR CC is useless for anyone that is doing anything more than mobile edits. Works great for on the go edits. Not so much for 99% of my workflow.
