Lightroom: General Feature Development
Hi All,
hope everybody is doing fine in these strange times. I recently wondered whether the progress of development of significant new features is stalling. In the past 3-4 releases I saw just minor add ons with respect LR (Desktop & Mobile). But maybe it is just my impression since the past new features did not improve my overall perceived value with regard to LR Desktop & Mobile.
I still hesitate from moving from LR Classic the the Cloud version because I am not sure if LR Cloud is really the right thing to go for. Mainly also because I am still not 100% sure what the strategy of Adobe with respect to LR Classic vs LR Desktop & Mobile actually is.
Curious to see some other thoughts about that.
All the best

Your post got lost as it wasn't categorized. We've resurrected it.
Short answer is Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop are two distinct solutions to managing and editing your pictures. They are designed differently for different intended audiences. Both products are under active development and continue to receive new features via updates several times a year.
There are many features being queued up right now for each product.
I would also add that it is unlikely that Lightroom Desktop will ever have some of the features Classic has today but it will likely (and does already) have features not planned for Classic.

But now, after two years, two years old feature requests, that does not seem to be any hard to implement, are still missing. Instead, we got tutorials, new tutorials and even more tutorials where nobody wants them, on the main page of the photo editing app.
Many started looking for alternative, but it's not easy when you already got used to complex cloud service like Lightroom CC is.
I am still hoping something big just around the corner, something the devs have been working so hard for those years.
