Lightroom Ecosystem: Add Color Labels

I added thousands of photos (other than those in Synced Catalogs) and now I cannot differentiate them other than by the standard filters provided because I have used color labels to identify certain criteria. Color labels are just as important as Flags, Please add them!

this is annoying......but........instead of hitting number 9 for a blue color label you can use 1-5 i think.  then in the develop tab you can set the filter to rating.... this will almost act like the color labeling

lol that is if you had the same annoyance as i did with filtering photos with colors in "library" and then going to the develop tab and...using my color filter.... only seeing those photos that i wanted to edit!

hope this helps

Yeah but sometimes you need more than one metric to filter and sort by. I'll admit I don't use colour labels all the time but when I need them I REALLY need them and its really saved my bacon a number of times particularly when I'm working as an onsite editor for multiple photographers.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Color label, time to add that in Lr CC. because its 2019!.

Hi, I see comments from 2017 to include that Basic function as well in Lr CC Mobile App Versions for iOS etc to sync Workflows. Or anyone having found an workflow. Would like to avoid **** as I use that for an other selection flow.

Hello? Are we really without color labels in this software? Just... WHY???

yes we are at least on CC version. Classic you have but you can't eg flag in cc and then get this synced back into classic LR. Thats a big joke. What only works is text but takes more time in case you want to flag pictures for blog and use the stars in a different way.

Flags should sync between mobile and Classic. Color labels don't, hence this request.

This and syncing collection sets are the two things holding me back from using CC in my workflow!

Another vote for colour labels in Lightroom CC that sync back to Lightroom Classic and an easy on-screen interface mode to add/remove the colour labels. Similar to the stars but with boxes for the colours.

Curious why from a software development standpoint this wouldn't have been implemented by now (after years of people requesting it and a fairly obvious feature to have)? Is there some complexity with labels that doesn't exist with stars and picks? Is it a design philosophy of 'simplifying' the rating system?

There is one possibly complexity that springs to mind, and that's the color labels are purely text, so they can be represented by different colors. For example, your red label may mean "to do" on one computer but "to do" might be yellow on another computer. I'm sure it's not an insurmountable issue, but may be a factor in its prioritization.

I'd strongly suggest to add color labels and star ratings to Lightroom mobile.

For me this app is wonderful for sorting through pictures - but just using the reject/pick flag is not precise enough for my purposes.

I could imagine easy to use interfaces for this: e.g. scrolling in the left of the screen through color labels, in the center through reject/pick flag, on the right through the star ratings. Or add just one additional control to choose between the different rating/labeling systems.

Functionality as in lightroom classic, ability to color label photos. This is part of my workflow in order to quickly know which photos still need to be edited.

It's also on my wishlist since the beginning.

I need colour labels across all Lightrooms. I primarily use Lightroom Classic, and use Lightroom CC only to bridge to my iPad. But the majority of work and especially organization takes place in Classic. Flags and stars only go so far, colour labels help me quickly filter things like all the HDR merges, Panorama Stitches, or all images used to create these vs. the end result. All this is important for organizing 1000's of images in my catalog.

PLEASE ADD COLOUR LABELS ACROSS ALL LIGHTROOMS!

Color labels need to add into lightroom mobile

Are there any plans to add color labels to Lightroom CC mobile? I use color labels in Lightroom Classic on my desktop system. When I move over to mobile, I can't see any of my color labels. When organizing photos on mobile, I am not able to use my typical workflow because of the lack of color labels. It would be great to be able to view sync color labels and apply labels when using Lightroom CC when I'm on the go!

Voted, and agree, we should have color labels in Lightroom CC, I use them for final images. Also personalized watermarking ... why can't we watermark our images with a graphic that is saved in Adobe Creative Cloud. This really limits us to exporting and sharing our images with our regular signatures while working remotely.

I fully agree with you in both points!
