Lightroom Desktop: Unwanted preset seems to be applied on photo import

I have been using the new Lightroom (not classic) for almost a year and am suddenly having a problem when importing photos. For the last couple of weeks, what appears to be a preset is automatically applied to all my photos on import. As far as I am aware, Lightroom CC does not even have import presets, but please correct me if I am wrong because this is driving me crazy!

All photos have the "Modern 08" profile applied, the sliders are all over the place and even grain and vignetting are applied. Needless to say this is making everything look quite ugly and this is not a preset that I have saved or ever used. If I make changes and click "revert to original" it reverts to these settings, so it is definitely being applied when importing to the library.

I have posted this on the Adobe forum, but was directed here as nobody seemed to have come across the issue before. The files are being imported straight from an SD card and I am not using any other software. I am using the latest version, 2.2 on MacOS 10.14.3

Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

Richard,

Do you have Camera Raw or Lightroom Classic (or an older version of Lightroom (not CC)) installed on this machine? Lightroom CC may be picking up defaults from another program. Reseting the default edit settings in whichever program might have custom defaults should cure the issue.

Yes, I have just managed to sort it!! I also have Lightroom Classic installed, so clicked "reset all default develop settings" in the preferences and now Lightroom CC is fine.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening again? I like to keep both installed in case I want to use a feature that is currently missing from Lr CC.

Please see my response https://forums.adobe.com/message/10989362#10989362.

Have you setup any kind of camera default settings via ACR or Lightroom Classic? See Adobe Lightroom - Customising Camera Defaults. You can try to reset the custom camera defaults that will address your problem.

Whenever you upload any image, ensure that the Develop Settings are selected to None to prevent the Lightroom from automatically applying any preset. The same drop down menu can also be used to apply a preset you already have to a newly imported image.

Your screenshot shows Lightroom Classic. This thread is about Lightroom desktop.
