Lightroom Desktop: “Reset Geometry” does not reset Guided Upright Tool guides.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Click the Guided Upright Tool icon and then draw the guides directly on a photo.
2. Control + Click “Geometry”, and select “Reset Geometry” to reset Geometry control.

3. “Reset Geometry” does not reset the guides drawn in the step 1.
After resetting, switch Upright mode back to "Guided". You will see how it goes back to the Step 1; The guides are still there because they were not deleted by the reset.

Please note: "Shift + R" will reset the guides but it also resets other controls, so it is not an ideal solution.

Thank you!

OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.7
Application: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Version 4.1 (20201120-1311-17d302b Build)

Tested with the following environments.

  1. Windows 10 Enterprise 2004
    Lightroom 4.2
  2. MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020)
 / OS: 10.15.7
    Lightroom 4.2 (Intel)
  3. MacBook Air (M1, 2020) / OS: 11.2.3
    Lightroom 4.2 (Apple)

Greetings,

Updates to Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic and the Lightroom Ecosystem products for Desktop, Mobile and Web, were released today and contain a fix for this issue.

Please refresh your Creative Cloud application and install your update when it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

I am not able to reproduce this using your steps. I am able to reset the guides with no issue on my system. How many guides do you have on the image?

@Rikk Thank you for your comment. I appreciate.

I tested using one, two, three and four guides. I am still getting the same results. Your comment made me curious so I uninstalled Lightroom and installed it fresh, however I am still getting the same results.

After the Step 3, did you switch your Upright mode back to "Guided"? You may see how it goes back to the Step 1; The guides are still there because they were not deleted by the reset.

Perhaps, I should have mentioned this Step 4. (My apologize)

4. Switch Upright mode back to "Guided". You will see how it goes back to the Step 1; The guides are still there because they were not deleted by the reset.

I will test more this afternoon at my work place using other computers.

Thank you.

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

@Rikk Thank you for the tip. I reset the preference. I am still getting the same results.

As I mentioned, I tested further with other OSs and computers. Three OSs and computers had the same issue. I was surprised to see this issue in Windows app as well.

I tested with the following:

  1. Windows 10 Enterprise 2004
    Lightroom 4.2
  2. MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020)
 / OS: 10.15.7
    Lightroom 4.2 (Intel)
  3. MacBook Air (M1, 2020) / OS: 11.2.3
    Lightroom 4.2 (Apple)

Issue: Lightroom Desktop -- “Reset Geometry” does not reset Guided Upright Tool guides.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Click the Guided Upright Tool icon and then draw the guides directly on a photo.
2. Right-click (Control + Click) “Geometry”, and select “Reset Geometry” to reset Geometry control.
3. After resetting, switch Upright mode back to "Guided". You will see how it goes back to the Step 1; The guides are still there because they were not deleted by the reset.

Please note: "Shift + R" will reset (erase) the guides but it also resets other controls, so it is not an ideal solution.

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

That does. I've logged it with the LrD team.
