Lightroom Desktop: Preset Issue
Morning,
I am unable to upload a new collection of presets purchased online.
I have existing presets purchased the same way that uploaded and operate perfectly.
The new collection downloaded at LRTEMPLATE files as did the others that work.
When I select 'import templates' I receive a message stating "Not a valid file".
Can you advise exactly what version of Lightroom I have?
I must admit it is a bit confusing as when I joined up I assumed the current version would be the 'only version' yet in my research I ahve found two different screen outlays which I assume are Classic and Desktop?
Do I have 'Classic CC' or 'Desktop (cloud based)'
If I don't have the latest can you explain why?
will certain presets only operate with certain versions?
I love the product and it has helped me enormously but I am having real trouble here.
My version according to the system is 4.1x64 (20201120-1311-17d302b)
I have an Adobe subscription and pay monthly. I am thinking I have the cloud based desktop version but if the Classic CC is the preferred option how do I get that????
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Cheers,
Andy

You do indeed have the latest cloud-based desktop version. Lightroom Classic is the traditional folder-based version that's been around for years, whereas your version stores the photos in the cloud so they're available on all of your devices.
Your version supports Lightroom presets created since about 2012. You could ask the vendor for help, or if you want to send me one of the presets that's failing, I'll take a look and see if I can spot the problem. I'm uploads AT lightroomqueen DOT com.

Thanks very much for your advice and offer of assistance Victoria. I will try later today and advise.
I sent email to 'Kelvin Designs' who market the presets.
They advised the presets must be uploaded as 'brushes'. I have no idea why or how to do this.
They included a thorough screenshot guide but my LR display is different to theirs. Their screen is obviously the 'older' LR Classic and has different tabs and layout to mine. Very confusing. They advised to copy files and select 'presets' tab then a 'develop' tab and paste files. I don't have either tab. They advise the presets are compatible with every version of LR. Do you think I have purchased an incompatible product?
