Lightroom Desktop: How do I store and offline archive of all my original photos?

Does anyone know how to download all the photos on Lightroom CC for archival purposes (e.g. to a NAS or other storage device)?

It's great that everything is in the cloud, but should that fail (or should I decide to stop using Lightroom CC), I no longer have an offline backup like I did with Lightroom Classic.

Simply exporting files isn't practical as there are a huge number of large photos in my collection.

Is there a more elegant way to obtain an offline archive of my files?

There are two ways:

1. Use the option in Preferences>Local Storage tab to "Store a copy of all originals at the specified location". Using this method only the originals are stored, without edits.

2. Use the Lightroom CC Downloader: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/lightroom-cc/kb/download-lightroom-photos.html

does the downloader app just backup the photo files to a separate hard drive, or does it also delete the photos from creative cloud at the same time?

The former, i.e. whatever is in the cloud stays in the cloud until the designated period after a subcription lapses (IIRC, that would be 12 months). The Downloader is designed to be used when a user decides to terminate their subscription, or when a user dies and their surviving family wants to retain a copy of the images.
