That feature's not in 1.0, but I'll convert this to a feature request.

I agree with the need for this functionality. I love Lightroom cc...and not sophisticated enough to use classic comfortably. But the inability to watermark is a real gap

Watermark is present in the iOS version but not in the windows version

After iOS has for some time now, we still need it on PC. This is where the bunch of work and the storage uploads happen.

Hi - I have just upgraded from Classic CC to Lightroom CC and watermark still not available (windows). This is a real gap - is there any update if / when this will be rolled out? Does anyone know?

Is adding a Watermark available in Classic? I don't have Photoshop, and I just bought a logo and can't even use it in CC ... I wish I had known ....

This is crazy to me that this isn’t a feature. I had Lightroom classic and was pretty much forced to get the new Lightroom cc due to unable to upload raw images from my new camera. And now there’s no watermark feature in an updated software?? I don’t get it.

For when this feature will be available?
I know that is already possible to add text as watermark in both Ipad/Iphone Apps, but I would really like to have the possibility of adding watermark logo in Lightroom CC (same feature as Lightroom Classic).
Is there a specific date when this will be available in Lightroom CC?

Is this really still a thing months after this question was posted?  Adobe unveils a fancy new portfolio ability with no ability to force a watermark in the process and ensure our work isn't stolen?  Why use this service?  I'm confused.  Isn't lightroom CC the future?

Providing export and publish features without adding a watermark capability is a complete non-sense for me, especially since the new integration with Adobe Portfolio (finally!). Wake up guys because I am not so far from giving up the Adobe platform just because of that.

It's so confusing ...  Lightroom and Portfololio should work together hand in hand to add an watermark on  every single picture exported to the portfolio web site. Why this is not ready yet ??? So much money to create a brand new Lightroom CC .. and Classic ... and so on ... and NO AUTOMATED  WATERMARK on Portfolio. Simply incredible.

2 Messages

 •

I've found the watermark is only added when you "share" or upload the photo to adobe. You cannot specifically add your personal brand to the photo, which is extremely frustrating.

Hey everyone! I got sick of waiting for Adobe to add this, so I made a web app that can add watermarks to multiple photos at once and export the results to your PC. It's completely free, works on all web browsers, works offline, and has similar watermark options to Lightroom Classic. You can export your photos from Lightroom CC, import them into PhotoStack, pick your watermark, and export again.

You can try it out here: https://photostack.app

This is another major roadblock to me moving over to LR CC. It's basic functionality, the same as choosing any size and quality for export, and applying a preset when importing. Please Adobe, let us use graphical watermarks and have more control over how our images are exported and so many more photographers would switch from LR Classic.

Hey everyone - Adobe still can't get its act together, but I've been improving my PhotoStack watermarking tool since I originally released it a few months ago. Here's what I've added:
  • Improved interface that is easier to use on desktop and mobile
  • Images can now be imported from Dropbox
  • Faster exporting for browsers that support JavaScript Service Workers (recent versions of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, etc.)
  • Added a simple API that can be integrated into workflows and 3rd-party apps
  • Chrome on Android only: exported images can be directly sent to any apps you have on your phone
  • Chrome desktop only: When PhotoStack is installed, a badge is added to the app icon when an export is completed

I thought I was not really good at using Lightroom, and I've just spent hours and hours to find how to export photos with the numbers on it..... it's such incredible that lightroom isn't able to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!! what's the joke???

I'm in exactly the same spot!!  It has the check box for watermarking on the Print dialogue page, and it even lets you edit the location and positioning of the watermark but it doesn't seem to show up when you print.  Is this just some oversight snafu?  Why hasn't it been fixed yet???

2 Messages

 •

Wait!  Are you guys talking about Cloud or Classic?  I'm having trouble with my Classic version, which makes me think they somehow took out the watermarking capability in the 2019 version?  Like I just said above, still has all the same options on the Print dialogue page but it just doesn't show up when you print.

This is a Lightroom Desktop thread and not related to Classic. However. The watermarking has not changed in the new version of Lightroom Classic (Version 9.0) (There is no Lightroom 2019...)

PS. It is working fine for me in Print.

It was actually held back a long time. If it waited until it had every feature we want, it wouldn't have been released for years - and by then, we'd have an even longer list of things we want!

Ok yes... as a software developer myself I know a lot about the concept of releasing the "minimum viable product"... and Lightroom CC is very viable. But 1 year in and still no watermarks? no red eye reduction tool (without photoshop), common Adobe. The point of cloud applications is rapid iteration. Let's get the watermark in the next sprint and make it happen!

What I have seen in the tutorial videos is something completely different. If you have an apple, you can add a watermark, but not with a desktop and windows. What gives?

Currently watermark functionality is in this state:

Lightroom Classic CC:  Text and Graphic Watermarks
Lightroom CC for desktop: No Watermarking feature at this time.
Lightroom CC for mobile (iOS and Android) Text Watermarks
Lightroom CC for Web: No Watermarking feature at this time.

Watermarking capability enhancement is planned but there is no ETA for this feature at this time.

This is lame. I just downloaded and started with Lightroom CC and agree with others, this should be standard, no exceptions. Now that I've paid for my subscription, how do I get classic so I watermark?

Rikk Flohr - your current state comment isn't very helpful. I think people want dates.

Please add the Watermark graphic option at the earliest opportunity for Lightroom CC for Windows.  I am stunned that it is not available.  I do all my photo editing in Lr, but then have to open Ps to add the logo - a feature available in Lightroon Classic, and Lightroom on iPad etc.  This is madness!

2 Messages

I have a real disdain for the new lightroom cc.  I used lightroom Classic cc to do my editing and I export them with watermark to a folder on my laptop.  I then import to Lightroom cc as an album only to link to portfolio and give sharable preview links.

I don't even like the layout of Lightroom cc.  Only reason i even updated was because lightroom version I had didn't support the updated version of camera raw and there was no update for it o make it work.

We will definitely need a watermarking tool for all photo before sharing our photo online for our client, like for selection.

As a professional I sometimes limit the amount of FINAL IMAGES that may be used. Watermarking is ESSENTIAL in order to protect the download or plain screen-wrapping of images. It is essential to safe guard the quality of my end product. Unedited images may be used as final product. I have had numerous times actors and even celebrities using unmarked images on their professional promotional platforms. Seeing it appearing in news outlets or even on IMBD! Without watermarking images lead their own life. Down the line the graphic designer or assistant will not ask :"DO WE HAVE THE USAGE RIGHTS?". Not watermarking hurts my business and is extremely frustrating. ADD THIS FEATURE TO CC. otherwise this program is useless for me. Great for amateurs not for professionals. Intagram:richardkoek

I actually think this was Adobe's intention. They may have determined that their next big market for market growth were the "true" amateurs and Adobe then targeted that specific market segment. After they released Lightroom CC, the professionals created so much noise that they had to produce LR Classic CC and when they did that, it was a halfhearted sloppy product due to the rush to do public relations damage control.

Victoria, As you know, perception is reality. And when they released it, what I saw first was Lightroom CC, and I did not become aware of Lightroom Classic CC until later. In fact I did not feel Lightroom CC was of interest to me. I guess I should retract my theory so as not to mislead anyone. What I remember most is how hard it was to understand what Adobe was doing.

So it's not just me!  No watermark feature makes the program useless for me as well. Now I have to find a program to do that with - yet another expense.  I detest the new Lightroom, enough so that I will stop using the programs altogether.  They took a good product and trashed it.

It is a money making system.
Lightroom CC- is brilliant and easy program to use, you pay $10 per month, but to put watermark - you have to use Lightroom Classic, or Photoshop - and it's another fees per month!

Actually its included in the $9.99 per month bundle, but that is not the point, Lightroom CC seems a little more than a toy, not a "professional" software created for professional photographers, i am very disappointed, Software like Darktable and Rowtherapee are far superior.
