Lightroom Classic: Import issue

I have a folder with 165 images in it. I select 'Synchronise folder' in LR Classic (7.4). It says 'Import new photos (165)'. I select Synchronise and LR then says 'No photos or videos were found to import'. The LR folder remains with 0 images in it. How do I fix this?

Have you clicked the 'Show Import Dialog' checkmark in the 'Synchronise Folder' dialog? I seem to remember that there is a bug that nothing gets imported if you don't check that, and I'm not sure that bug has been dealt with.

I tried this and no joy. If I simply go to Import and select the folder it shows all the photos (under All photos) but greyed out so I cannot select them, under New photos it shows none. So it clearly thinks the photos are already there (which they are in the finder folder but not in the LR folder. I have made sure Do not import duplicates is not selected.

If the import dialog shows the images greyed out, then that means that they are already imported. 'Synchronize Folder' is known to have some quirks, so I would tend to believe the import dialog and conclude that there was nothing to import after all.

Well you would expect so but they are not shown in the location they are on disc and I couldn’t find any of them by search in LR.. Anyhow sorted now thanks..

I seem to have sorted this out, I backed up the folder to a safe place, deleted it in LR, created a new folder in LR with a different name, imported into that, finally renamed the folder in LR back to what I wanted. Seems OK at the moment.... Thanks

I hope you didn't made any edits on these photos, because what you have done will delete all edits and all added metadata.

Indeed I had, but fortunately it is only about a dozen or so of them I am really worried about, I will redo the edits metadata. Thanks...
