Lightroom CC: Slow scrolling (macOS)

The all new Lightroom CC fulfills my wildest dreams about what i wanted lightroom to be.
But: I own a Top Line Macbook 2016 15" System with Radeon Graphics and 2,9 GHz Quad Core CPU, but scrolling is not smooth. When putting Lightroom CC on a secondary 5K sceen it is not even close to smooth, when scrolling with the magic mouse top and down a few times, the result is that i can sit back and watch the next 15 seconds for the programm to execute the scrolling operations, and this in an album containing just 200 photos. In Apple Photos scrolling in the same constellation is like butter. This is really a huge dissapointment and blocks me from using this software, since... what I want to do with it is as well: browsing my photos...
But the direction the product is going is really promising.

I have about 12,000 Photos in the (Cloud Based) LrCC. Scrolls fast on a 2011 MBP.

Is it still importing or syncing?

Fast here on a MBP 2016 13" too. It may still be sorting out all of its previews though. how's it doing now Marius?

The Problem is mostly there on Retina Screens, it gets worse when you connect a 5K display. When I reduce the window size it gets better, but it is still far away from the smooth scroll you have in Apple Photos or on a web browser.

As Well Pinch To Zoom is not implemented as good as it could be. But otherwise I am really fascinated about Lightroom CC. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Hello, I just bought a brand new iMac 5K 27'' Intel Core i7 4.2 Ghz, 16GB DDR4 with Radon Pro 580 8GB (just to say that I put money to get good performance on Lightroom). But then, I was really disappointed when I realised how slow Lightroom is. (Classic is slow but the new Lightroom CC is very very slow).
I have about 32k photos in my library and scrolling is awful. Whatever I do, nothing is really reactive as you would expect for such professional application.
(just for information I have activated the Graphic Processor in Lightroom settings)
I would like to have a feedback from Lightroom that they are working on solving this problem in order to provide the best user experience to their customers.

Same here. Bought a high end iMac mainly for photo retouching purpose but the horrible scrolling speed slows down my work a lot. Can’t figure out what when wrong when the rest of system could scroll smooth and stable anywhere. Prob they didn’t implement hardware acceleration

Sad to see this was an issue 11 months ago and it seems nothing has changed. Scrolling is painfully slow on my Retina iMac. Don't see why when Photos, iPhoto and Lightroom Classic and even web-based Google Photos scroll more photos smoothly. Adobe, please make Lightroom CC useable.

Very sad. Scrolling is still horribly slow on my 2017 Macbook Pro 15' (Maxed out specifications). For me, the scrolling experience adds so much to the user experience and makes me not want to use the program anymore. Really bad. Adobe needs to fix the issue asap!

The annoying thing for me is that I could shell out £120 for more RAM but I'm not sure if it'll fix the problem... Probably not based on other comments. (5K iMac late 2014 3.5GHz Core i5 8GB 3TB). This Mac cost around $3K. I'm not keen to spend another $3K to run one piece of software.

Save your money it won't help, RAM is not the problem.
I have the same exact system as yours but 24GB RAM and scrolling is far from acceptable.

I just installed the Lightroom update which improves the scrolling in Lightroom Classic but not in Lightroom CC.

Yes I has to do with the optimization for 5K monitors. If you have a MacBook Pro with Retina display it should be fine...

I  have problem too. When scrolling an album with only a few dozen images, it stutters like crazy on a MacBook Pro 2017. Other programs like Apple Photos and Capture One Pro don't have this problem.

I have the same problem on a MacBook Pro 2018 2,3GHz Core i5, 16GB Ram, Intel 655. Very poor overall performance. Scrolling is very slow. No difference if I have 10 or thousands of pictures. Modifications to cache settings or local storage don't have any effect. Windows, Android and iOS versions are working fine.

Incredible - I've just installed Lightroom on my 2015 MacBook Air and everything runs smoothly. There's no reason a much more powerful desktop Mac of the same era can't do the same, Retina display or not. Adobe, please get your act together.
