Greetings Christian,

The simplest way to delete an album in Lightroom CC is to right-click with your mouse on the album and choose Delete from the context menu.

You can also go to the menu option Edit>Albums... and choose delete.

To add photos to an album, simply select them in the grid, click, hold and drag them onto the album where you would like them and release your mouse button.

I hope that helps!

[CTRL]+[Click] will work if you aren't configured for Right-click

Two finger click should also do a right-click by default, if I remember rightly (or you can certainly enable that in System Prefs > Trackpad > Point & Click > Secondary Click)

When I delete an album, the photos in it are not deleted. They remain in the Library. Is there a way to delete albums and their contents at the same time?

No, but it's only one extra step to select all of the photos in the album, delete them, and then delete the album. They don't want to make deleting your photos too easy, just in case you make a mistake.
