Lightroom CC only supports Photoshop CS6 and above when you perform an "Edit in Photoshop" command. It shall not work for any version before that.

Photoshop 7 is ancient (released 2002). Can you confirm that's the right version? If so, I'd be amazed it still runs on a modern computer, let alone works with current software releases.

There are three images in this post:

What version of Windows are you using? If Windows 10, you can run Troubleshoot Compatibility which can create a virtual XP, Windows 7, or Window 8 for the executable. It also allows you to adjust display settings because that can be an issue with older programs on new hardware. Right Click the Photoshop 7 executable and select properties. Click Troubleshoot compatibility. Follow the instructions. Post your results and / or questions.

To find the problem try:

If running Windows 10, type "Reliability History" into the Search Box in the lower left. This gives a graphic picture of events over the past couple of days. If running Windows 7 or 8, start control panel and in the Search box enter Reliability history. You should see something like the following:

Click on a red circle with the X and you should see a list as below. Click on View technic at the end of the line of interest. You will get a text description of the problem. You can copy that and post it here. See the second image below.

This is geeky but might provide information to some on the forum to help solve the problem:

Thank you so much for your help, I am running my Photoshop 7 on Windows 10 and it was working fine till last week, and then for some reason just picked up the initialisation problem.  I do enjoy the personalisation that Photoshop 7 gives me.  The troubleshoot compatibility tells me that there is a newer paid updated version, which isn't what I want.  You are most kind thought for your help.

Thank you for your reply Ankur, it looks like I will have to ditch my Photoshop 7.

Kind wishes
